We had the good fortune of connecting with Bryan Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bryan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to share my love for barbecue with others and showcase my unique recipes and techniques. I also saw a gap in the market where I live for a more diverse and creative approach to barbecue, and I wanted to fill that void with my own business. Additionally, I have always had a passion for cooking and entrepreneurship, so starting a barbecue business felt like a natural fit for me. Overall, I saw it as an opportunity to turn my passion into a successful and fulfilling career.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started Saucy B’s Barbecue back in 2021, Something that’s so easy to me that I love became real. A little too real I might add. Learning how a pop up / catering company operates. Also learning social media. These are the things that I struggled with my first year.. it sucked having a product and no advertisements. However we have learned alot since then , but we are not done. We understand that social media is a tool that supports small businesses for success. Other Challenges that plagued us, was getting in the door for catering and pricing. We knew we had something special on our hands but we heard alot of no’s. We had to figure out how to connect with the people. We started to do small pop up events in the city so people can see our name and talent. And in 2023 we entered a barbecue contest in the Antelope Valley. Out of 20 participants we won number #1 Barbecue in the Antelope Valley. That really set us apart from other local barbecue businesses. Since then we have been booming.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Lancaster California, We have such a great history here. I would say start off the trip with the church that was in the movie kill bill, museum of arts and history, the world famous poppy feild, the blvd in Lancaster which there is tons of restaurants and entertainment. Then last but not least end the trip at a Saucy B’s Barbecue pop up.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be on this journey if it wasn’t for my family. The support that I receive from them is unmatched. From encouraging words to unsolicited opinions (lol). It is truly a blessing to have family that wants you to succeed.. “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31:
