Meet Buchi Osondu | Serial Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Buchi Osondu and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Buchi, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Trust. I think one of the most important pieces of a successful brand or business is trust. I believe that this trait is what brings validity to your brand and also drives customer retention. With this being one of my driving forces with A Tee Shop, this helps with one of the least talked about, but one of the most important marketing techniques “word of mouth”. In our industry alot of business is funneled through word of mouth. And with technology being so advanced when it comes to marketing you’d be surprised by how successful you can be by this “archaic” marketing tool.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own a printing company along with my brother Dozie called A Tee Shop. A Tee Shop is a digital first custom t-shirt and apparel company built on an innovative concept: to help people create customized apparel with an easy system where the means of design and ideas are all available in one place.
Part of what keeps me going with my business is knowing how far I can go with it; the endless possibilities. There’s aren’t too many black owned printing companies that can handle large volume. Fortunately, we are one of them and we don’t take this lightly.
When growing your business, what people won’t tell you is that you will make TONS of mistakes, you will have A LOT of frustrating moments, and you will definitely go through ups and downs. What keeps me afloat is my tenacity. I believe that’s also my strongest trait. I don’t give up. I put my gloves on and go till I see positive results.
I want the world to know that it won’t be easy, but if you stick with it, there is in fact a reward waiting for you in the end. Don’t give up on your dreams.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favorite things to do in NY are visiting Speakeasies. There’s a couple by the Lower East Side that I frequently go to. I’m also big on Afrobeats, so wherever DJ Buka is, I’m there. Sidenote he’s also my younger brother and one of the top Djs doing it right now.
Lastly, another one of my ventures called the “Fine Wine Series” is an event series focused on wine and R&B. (S.O to my partners). You can definitely catch me here having a good time after all the work is done.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Want to give a S.O to my family and friends. They’re the driving force behind my motivation. I also strongly believe that everyone that’s on this entrepreneurial journey needs some sort of support system and for me that’s the fam and the homies.
