Meet Burger the Monster | Performing Artist & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Burger the Monster and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Burger, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Bringing joy to others. Right now, joy is something that is lacking significantly from our world. And my ultimate goal is to make people smile, whether it be with my video content on TikTok or by simply telling a silly joke. If I can make others happy, then I am happy.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It all began years ago, when I was a sophomore at SUNY New Paltz studying Theatre. I was auditioning for our theatre department’s spring season. When my audition was finished, I ran into a young human being named Spencer. From there, Spencer and I decided to become roommates and the best of friends, collaborating on various video, radio, and theatre projects with Spencer’s buddies Andrew, John, Conor, and Kyle.
Shortly after graduation, I began performing with the Puppet Shakespeare Players in NYC. As a “player,” I appeared Off-Off-Broadway in productions of Puppet Macbeth, Puppet Romeo & Juliet, Puppet Hamlet, and Puppet Julius Caesar. While the group is no longer around, I am grateful for the awesome memories and wonderful friends that I made.
Fast-forward to 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic is here and we are all in lockdown. I knew that I needed to continue to bring joy and laughter to the world somehow. But how? The answer was TikTok.
I joined TikTok in March 2020. Since then, I have gained over 5,300 followers. Thanks to this amazing platform, my work has been shared by brands and celebrities such as World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and Singer-Songwriter Melissa Etheridge.
It’s been a truly exciting journey full of lots of delicious sandwiches.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
That is an excellent question! I would definitely take them to Katz’s Deli. They have the BEST sandwiches. Have you ever tried their corned beef on rye? It’s to die for!
I also think a trip to the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria would be a lot of fun. Did you know that they have a permanent exhibition dedicated to Jim Henson? It’s fantastic! You can see lots of Jim’s storyboards, sketches, scripts, and pals on display (Kermit the Frog, Big Bird, Miss Piggy, Elmo, etc.).
Speaking of Jim Henson, I think it would be fun for us to go to Central Park and try to find the bench that is dedicated to him.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Karen. She’s like a mom to me and is always there when I need her the most.
I also want to dedicate my shoutout to Ryan and A.J., who gave me the opportunity to perform in their group, the Puppet Shakespeare Players. If it weren’t for them, I would not be the Off-Off-Broadway star I am today.
