Meet C.G. Ryche | Award-winning filmmaker, Producer & Drummer for IronWrath

We had the good fortune of connecting with C.G. Ryche and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi C.G., we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think anyone that pursues a music career in today’s world is taking a giant risk. The industry has changed so much in recent years, especially post-Napster. The infrastructure to get from point A to point B is nonexistent. And it’s meant to favor the record industry or manager more than the artist. With that said, I believe it’s not intelligent to take uncalculated risks but figure out innovative ways to reapply the wheel to a broken industry. Then I not only think you’re significantly reducing your risk, but you’re trailblazing a new way. IronWrath has gone down this road trying to create a show rather than a band, a larger-than-life production rather than a simple performance. Therefore we can stand out from the crowd and use an industry still alive in television, streaming, and film. Create something that carries a buzz and still has an infrastructure to fuel the project. Today’s music industry is definitely an uphill battle, to say the least, but I believe it can be done successfully with a disruptive-focused path. “With great risk comes great reward!”
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
IronWrath is known as the “Cinematic Masters of Metal.” Originally IronWrath was a band that started in 1988 and ran until 1990. We were looking to be progressive back then, with many influences, including Whitesnake, Pink Floyd, and Queensrÿche back in the day. With the re-emergence of IronWrath in 2023 and over three decades of experience under our belts, we understand our plight more than ever. And that’s to say music is for the listener. That’s it! So for us, we wanted to keep one foot in the present by creating modern metal but still keep one foot in the past so it has a familiar feel. Make new music that based on what fans like to listen to.
We also believe writing relatable songs relative to people’s lives is essential. We’ve all used music to get through the day or hardships in life. IronWrath believes music matters. The “Choruses are king!” We spend a lot of time ensuring we get great choruses for our music, and we approach them more in a stadium metal style, something catchy… something big. We also believe that media use in our artistry is a huge part of our work. The film is as essential to IronWrath as our music. We believe the “story” separates anyone’s project and makes you attractive to fans. And that’s where you get into branding; our branding story is to take people down the rabbit hole of reality from a world of Wonderland. To the truth about freedom, our relationships, and God. And to do this with no apologies and the fortitude that words matter. If a band has a great story and great songs, they become much more than a band; the sum of the parts becomes more significant than the finished product.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in Southern California and being part of the LA area, there’s not a lack of things to do. From the beach to the mountains, theme parks, and, best of all, the sunset strip & Hollywood. This is the entertainment capital of the world!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
They say, “God works in mysterious ways,” For Steve Bell (Rhythm Guitarist), Sean Silas (Lead Guitarist), and myself (Drummer / Producer) to revive this project after three decades… IronWrath is definitely a “God thing!”
