We had the good fortune of connecting with Cait Medearis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cait, how do you think about risk?
I think for many of us, when we begin really following our passion and what we’re meant to do with this life, we’re usually taking a major risk. I know that was the case for me–I had settled into a career in which I was more linearly heading toward success and potential accolades. I had even begun studying for a career in broadcast journalism at the age of 18 and never veered from the path until I was two years into working as a newscaster, at my second news station, and miserable. When I finally made the leap to leave the industry and begin studying acting, things opened up for me. Even though the path hasn’t been as linear or clear, I’m so much happier.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m just glad I was finally able to break out of the shell that I had put myself in thinking I needed to stick to one path or else I’d ruin everything I’d worked for. We are meant to be happy and to feel excited about what we’re doing every day–anything else you’ve been told is a lie. Joy is the key.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To eat–Sun Cafe in Studio City; Castaway in Burbank. To see–Griffith Park and the Observatory; Venice Canals. To hang out–Huntington Library Botanical Gardens; Santa Monica farmers market.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This should be dedicated to Luna Wise, the first person to believe in me when I landed in LA and my manager to this day.
