We had the good fortune of connecting with Camesha Gosha and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Camesha, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work life balance used to be something that I worked toward. It was more of a priority before I had children. After a while I realized it was not something that was attainable for me. I felt like something was always coming up short. I needed a new approach. I decided to reach less for balance and focus on priorities. Giving myself attainable goals as a priority each day feels better. It also makes for days that flow a bit easier without the pressure of making sure everything shakes out evenly. As long as the priorities are accomplished, I’m good.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always been a writer. It’s the one thread that’s connected my entire career. Years ago, I was a writer for a newspaper and that led to me working in television as a writer and producer. After leaving television to be home with my children, I decided to focus on blogging. It’s morphed a few times over the years. I went from being a mommy blogger to be a lifestyle/wellness blogger and a freelance writer. My journey hasn’t been easy but it’s been organic. One major challenge was giving up on the idea of balance when it came to working while being home with my children. I had to figure out a flow for us that worked. The other challenge was learning the digital landscape and getting eyeballs to my writing. There have been lots of courses and webinars along the way to help me learn and grow.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We moved to Orange County a couple of years ago. I still feel like L.A. is home and know far more about L.A. than I do about the OC. That being said, if my best friend was coming to visit me -we’d have to hit the beach. Heading to Laguna or Newport would definitely be on the list. One other place that we tend to take visitors is Balboa Island. It’s its own little world and has a certain charm about it. There’s a nice Chinese food restaurant nestled in there too. After eating we’d have to stop for a chocolate dipped frozen banana before leaving the island.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Given the times that we’re living in right now, I feel like I would be remiss not to dedicate my shoutout to the essential workers. Whether working in a store, delivering packages, in the medical field or teaching and caring for our children, they’ve all been so necessary as we navigate our new normal.
