We had the good fortune of connecting with Candace Wakefield and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candace, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?

I chose an artistic career because it’s the best way to connect with people. As a singer/songwriter, I have the opportunity to be the voice of the people. I also have the opportunity to release happiness, frustration, love, hurt, and many other emotions through music. So many people heal through songs and music gets many of us through our days. I love to create my music around life experiences.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a singer/songwriter from Inglewood, CA. My passion started as a little girl. My family is full of singers, and it was destined for me as the youngest of the bunch to have the gift as well. I started writing poems that turned into songs and followed in the footsteps of my mother and grandmother, writing songs and playing the piano. It hasn’t always been easy in this industry, there are many ups and downs but I’ve been blessed with many opportunities to sing and collaborate with many artists. Never compromising who I am. I’m excited about my new music that I released, “WHAT ARE WE” “I WANT YOU” and “CAN’T BE WITHOUT YOU”. Releasing my new singles reveals a different side of me but also, very much ME showcasing heartache and love while being more vulnerable and open. I’ve learned many lessons in this industry and character means everything. “Your character will get you further than your gift ever will”, is a quote that I love to share with my supporters. My brand is all about love and light and I want to spread that everywhere I go.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

I love adventure, I’m all about the adrenaline rushing and giving me the ride of my life. Jet Skis, roller coasters, I love the beach, I love theme parks and now that world is opening back up IT’S ON

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I want to shout out my parents Donald and Marie Wakefield for birthing me and always being such great examples of love and support. My manager Chasity Enticing for always supporting me wholeheartedly and being my rock. All of those who support me genuinely, THANK YOU!
