We had the good fortune of connecting with Candice ( Kärma ) Peterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candice ( Kärma ), how do you define success?
I truly believe success is dependent upon how clear you are on your goals. It should be a and realistic attainable thing. Success is also a mindset, and anything can be viewed as successful. Waking up can be deemed successful. It all depends on your viewpoint and what you’re willing to define it as fitting for you.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When people hear my art I want them to feel. Sometimes as artists we can over complicate things and then it doesn’t become fun anymore. I enjoy songwriting in my style because it’s unique. When you hear my music you KNOW it’s me. And that’s something incomparable. Everything is exciting to me about my artistry however, I feel the creative prosess grants me the most space and freedom to be myself without any boundaries. Over time, things can become heavy especially when you are considered underground or unsigned. But most importantly redirecting your energy and reinventing yourself can be beneficial. Its important to take breaks, and take time to truly reflect on where you’ve traveled thus far. Reevaluate your space, and always look for ways to improve your craft. I want people to know that nothing for me, or anyone ever really comes easy if it’s worth it. If it means something. And whats most important is to be kind to yourself throughout your journey.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Thats an interesting question, but I would certainly encourage them to travel downtown grove street in jersey city. There are some wonderful restaurants and signts to see in the area Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely want to shoutout my peers Macc Mccray, Darryl J, Emon, Sunnie, and Malc. Each of them are doing amazing and phenomenal things. Its super dope to be able to look to those around you for inspiration.
