We had the good fortune of connecting with Careliseo Blair and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Careliseo, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Growing up my mom always said “I love myself and I’ll have a good day!” When I was younger I didn’t understand why my mom would do this or why she was so determined to make me say it along with her. However, as I grew up I found myself saying this phrase more often than I would have imagined. If I felt stressed “I love myself and I’ll have a good day!” If I was confused “I love myself and I’ll have a good day!” There is a lot of stress and confusion in this world so you can imagine just how many times I’ve said this phrase! When you say it enough times you start to see the change from within yourself! This phrase only puts positive vibes into the universe and who doesn’t need some good vibes!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I was four years old my life completely changed after seeing The Cheetah Girls. I don’t remember a time when I couldn’t recite that movie from memory. There was something about watching this movie on repeat to learn all the songs and choreography that made me want to do that for the rest of my life. So in third grade I auditioned for my first show and after that I was waiting for the next audition. I would then go on to perform with my community theater until I graduated high school After graduation I moved to LA to attend college for my BFA in Music Theatre. College, like many others, is a time of self discovery and pushing your self to try new things! Before college, I would shoot myself down and say that I’m not going to be good at it or that I’m not going to like it. That voice stopped me from putting myself out there for so long and I got to a point that I finally said enough of the self sabotage. I started writing short films and tv shows, learned how to knit and embroider, and started my own podcast! Now when I hear that voice I have to tell it to just shut up because trying new things is how you grow as an artist and as a person. I had this presumption that I could only be an actor, but after exploring many different branches on the Creative tree I can now say I’m an actor, writer, podcaster, crafter, and so much to come! Even though that journey wasn’t easy I have to believe it all happened so that I could be here and be a better version of myself today! The biggest lesson I have learned is to take everything in life from the good to the bad and let that fuel you to continue your journey, don’t let it stop you. The only person that can stop you is yourself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would first want to take them to Lake Hollywood Park. Every time I go here there are dogs running around, tons of open space to play, and some great people! Not to mention the Hollywood sign is right above us so if you haven’t seen it in person you can check that off the list! We would then head over to The Iliad Bookshop! After being outdoors it will be nice to browse the many shelves of books and who knows you might find one you like! After the bookshop we’ll probably be hungry so we can make our way to one of my favorite restaurants Asparagus Pizza. The pizza here is phenomenal, but the reason I go here is for their Mexican food! Had I not gone in there one day I would not have known about the excellence that is their food! Trust me! After a late lunch I would then want to bring you to Malibu to watch the sunset and just unwind from the day! Being at the beach at sunset is another level of happiness that everyone deserves to feel! That’s my perfect day in LA!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve been very fortunate to be surrounded by so many incredible people who have shaped me into the person I am today. To my mom and brother who have supported and encouraged me since before I can remember. To my community theatre program that taught me much more than to just put on a performance. To my friends new and old who have helped guide me on new paths I was scared to go down by myself. To my team because I don’t know where I would be today without your love and support. All of these people have played a vital role in my journey and all I have to say is thank you!
