We had the good fortune of connecting with Carl Landry-Berthelot and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carl, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The factor behind my success is my work ethic and ambition towards my goals. My parents raised me to be five steps ahead of my peers. They showed me how to properly prepare for my dreams. If I prepared and worked hard, I was able to achieve all my goals. My parents also enrolled me in a wide range of sports and artistic hobbies when I was a kid through high school. I was able to test a variety of things and it helped me find my true self at an early age. My work ethic was passed down from them. My mother worked at the hospital and was known to be a hard worker. Likewise, my father works on construction sites. He is a “numbers guy” and anchored in my brain to always double check anything I do in life. I’ve refuse to let myself fail. I will do anything in my power for my goals to succeed. It’s also important to realize that your path towards achieving a goal or dream will always be re-routed. Be flexible as much as possible.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m originally from Campbellton, New Brunswick. In 2016, I decided to pack my bags and move to Toronto, Ontario to pursue my dreams in the Entertainment industry and my undergraduate degree.
I graduated virtually from the University of Toronto Mississauga with a H.B.A in a Specialist program in International Affairs and a Majors in Economics.
I explored different positions of productions, both in front and behind the camera during my undergraduate degree.
A few productions would consist of: ”Canadian Tire” Flyers, “Hypostasis” film directed by Cameron Murton, Vanity Teen Magazine, “Parry Ripostle” film directed by Goldbloom, “Circle K Commercial”, ”Strangers in the Night”, “The Country Inn” co-directed by Jonah Haber and Martin Klapperbein, “Chris Hadfield Advertisement”, …
In 2017, I founded Walking on Water Fashion Show Inc. WOW is a summertime fashion experience showcasing and celebrating Toronto’s vibrant fashion industry. The signature event brings Toronto’s top fashion influencers and enthusiasts aboard the River Gambler to mix, mingle, and enjoy our local and international designer lineup.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely couldn’t have made it where I am today without a village of individuals, partner, mentors, agents, groups, organizations, etc. Everyone in my life has shared an important lesson with me.
The majority of recognition goes to my parents and my circle of friends. Their support and dedication towards all my projects have helped to my success. They all came together to help me with my business to volunteer their time for my goals. I have the mentality that if you don’t ask you won’t receive. I’ve definitely asked the help of my family and circle of friends.
