Meet Carlos Moreno Jr | Actor/Director/Writer/Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carlos Moreno Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carlos, what do you attribute your success to?
Believe. This simple word has so much power. This word has several degrees of conviction, and once you find the Nth degree of ‘Believe’, magic, miracles and dreams happen. A mentor introduced me to this concept a couple of decades ago, and it is the most important factor behind the success I’ve accomplished so far.
In the realm of writing, acting, directing, and editing, the Nth degree of believability is my secret ingredient. It transforms my work from mere expression to a reflection of my inner truth. This authenticity resonates with others, creating a connection that goes beyond the surface. It starts with truth within me and then inspirations come. Belief is the fuel for my passion and the anchor for my commitment to making a positive impact on society through my creative endeavors.
Being in the right set of mind does help me continue on this journey and believing is the source of resilience that allows me to push through doubt and tiredness. I often find myself explaining how I continue to pursue a dream set decades ago. The answer lies in understanding that it’s not just a dream—it’s a continuous journey of creation and self-discovery. My mentor’s wisdom echoes in my mind: “Art lies in the choices you make.” These choices, driven by an indomitable faith, shape my artistic path.
Believe…. It’s the catalyst that sets the cycle in motion—the more I believe, the more I create, and the more I create, the stronger my belief becomes. It’s a reciprocal dance that sustains and nourishes my artistic soul.
My sense of truth dictates the choices in my art. These choices should be visceral with indomitable faith in order to create.
It’s amazing how this simple word has the power to shape and define my entire journey. It’s not just about believing in success; it’s about believing in the process, in the journey itself. As I reflect on the past 30 years, I realize that belief has been the compass guiding me through challenges, doubts, and triumphs.
In the end, it’s incredible how this simple word has the power to elevate not only my work but my entire existence. Belief is not just a word; it’s the heartbeat of my journey, pulsating with the rhythm of creation, authenticity, and the unwavering pursuit of truth.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I first got to Los Angeles, I was asked by an agent what I wanted to be and I replied. “Eventually, I would love to tell stories as a director and writer.” He replied, “don’t ever say that or this town won’t take you seriously. You can only do one.” I wish I could go back to that agent now and inform him that have been a very successful actor/director/writer and producer. I started with acting and slowly have been successful in every form including editing and my own publicist.
My current project is PEPITO’S AMERICA – MAMADAS, are comedy vignettes based on on the jokes of the legendary funny character kid from “Pepito Jokes.” Now, a grown man living in Los Angeles, Pepito is many times the trouble. Pepito’s America – Mamadas was considered for (FYC), Emmy nomination in the category for Short Form Best Drama, Comedy, Variety series and Short Form Best Actor Comedy in 2023. We’re on our second season and hope to do the Emmy run in 2024.
I am also developing a dark-comedy buddy film titled, THE DEVIL’S TONGUE. A film about a funny Mexican national, JOSE, and a racist border patrol, AGENT TAYLOR, set in South Texas and Mexico. Both need each other to survive the ruthless cartel, Don Martinez.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I take people to see the famous Hollywood Sign and we would hike up there which is about a 40 minute hike. Once up there there is a tree called the ‘Wisdom Tree’. the site is incredible.
Other sites I love to show people are Hollywood walk of Fame, Santa Monica and its surrounding beaches. I also love the Los Angeles downtown market district and visit different night hotspots for cocktails.
