Meet Carolina De Athey | Actress, Singer and Model.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carolina De Athey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carolina, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always loved art. Acting, singing, writing music, creating a look. Since I was a kid, I knew I’d pursue something related to acting, music or both. I guess I could always communicate through art and I’ve always put value in doing so… because it lasts forever! I also knew I’d be involved with fashion on way or another because it’s another way to express yourself or what you’re feeling!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Aww! Thank you! As an actress, singer and model, I guess what sets me apart is that when I like something, I’m literally All In! I’ll dive into that role, music or vibe. It almost feels like “you have a multi-personality syndrome”, but it’s just about commitment and love!
I just finished shooting Bionic Beauty, https://www.imdb.com/
It’s a bit different when I’m working on my music. It’s a different kind of love because I write my own music and normally, I have total creative control and that is also something that makes me so excited. ” The ability to say something you want and to convey that in your own way, it’s priceless.” I’m very proud of my single LOVE, https://www.youtube.com/
As a model I’ve worked in some campaigns and it’s so great when you work with a photographer who understands light, composition and also gives the model freedom to contribute to his/her vision. When that happens, something amazing takes place! Even when I’m modeling, I try to share a bit of my true self, my print or DNA. I want the world to know I’m very real, and very honest, I believe in love, kindness, hard work, perseverance, resilience and I hope that one day I can get to a level where I can use my work to really help others. Also, I would say to other artists that are trying this kind of career, to Never give up. We only live once!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, that actually happened a couple of times. I’d say when you are around LA, we have to always consider how long “the friend” is staying and what’s the weather? If my friend stays around 2 to 3 days and we have good weather, I’d like to do a beach day, a shopping day and go to a couple of nice restaurants, watch a show or visit a museum . So, one day we would go to Malibu, hang out by the beach, have lunch at the Fish Market or any other cute restaurant by the beach. Stop at the Malibu Country Mart for sorbet. ( they have a great place there I always go to and I can’t remember the name). There are also wineries all over Ocean drive that you can have wine and snacks outside while enjoying live music. There’s a place called Cornell Winery that is so lovely! They normally have live music and you can buy wine and snacks as well. My friend Austin Grant sometimes plays there and the place has the perfect ambiance. Next door to Cornell Winery there’s a place called Old Place. It’s a steakhouse and is super rustic and cowboy like. The food is delicious and I heard the place is always packed. When I went there was packed but worth the wait. When it comes to Shopping, Melrose Ave is nice to check some cool stores because you can find brand names but also local designers and also Thrift stores which is pretty cool. There’s a pretty cool restaurant called Fig & Olive which is great for Brunch or Dinner. When it comes to Thrift shops it is worth to also visit Ventura Ave in between Sherman Oaks and Studio City. There are a few Thrift shops and I like America Vintage. Also, plenty of cute places to have lunch or dinner. Natas is a cute Portuguese Cafe and Bakery I like to go to. The Garden Cafe is also great and offers a great brunch. The other place I’d take my friend is to DTLA. Normally you can catch a theater show, musical or opera show as well as visit trendy restaurants like 71Above and after dinner drinks at the one of the Rooftop bars. Spire 73 looks very cool and have great drinks. Now if my friend is staying longer, I’d go to Palm Springs. It’s just too pretty, lotted with things to do from hiking’s, to pool time, shopping and great dining scene. I love that place and go back every time I can. There’s definitely such an iconic vibe about Palm Springs that I love.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Shoutout goes to my sister. I’ve always been a very creative person. Always full of ideas and a bit crazy lol. My sister has always supported me in all my endeavors while dealing with my silliness. She has always supported me in my efforts related to my artistry, acting, music, moving to the US, my personal life or any other creative or adventurous idea I may have. She has always supported me. She has always believed and had faith in me. We are best friends and that is so awesome! She’s the Best!
