We had the good fortune of connecting with Carolina Liz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carolina, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
It’s hard saying the end goal. I just know that I wanna keep working on movies and telling stories for as long as I can. Working as an actress has been and always will be my passion. It’s the dream I chose since I was little. But working as a filmmaker has also showed me a different way of still telling stories. I’m not gonna lie, it’s pretty challenging doing both at the same time, but I want to keep finding/writing inspiring stories and female roles that can impact younger women.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being an artist in this world is not easy, specially when you say that in front of the classroom when you are little when the teacher asks and all they want hear from you is either “I wanna be a doctor” or “I wanna be a lawyer”. I don’t think people really understand the effort and energy you have to put into the creative work. They only see the performance or they just go to the movie theaters and watch the movie but they don’t see all the process behind all that. And one of the main things I’ve learned along this journey is to be grateful for every moment, every rehearsal, every opportunity you get to be doing and playing the part. As the word says: You’re “playing” and enjoying. I’ve also stop listening to those people that said I’d never make it because I’m not physically this or that enough. It’s exhausting hearing those things. My singularity is what makes me unique and the only one in the world. I had an amazing director that said “your weakness is actually your strength”. And yes, I don’t have to be blonde or have blue eyes to tell stories, because I also represent girls that look like me and they also happen to be deserving of being the main characters of their own stories.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Los Angeles is the best place if you wanna go out to eat. So many places and options. My favorite place will always be The Grove though. Everything about that place makes me happy every time I go there. Formosa Cafe every Thursday night if you want to go karaoke.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have so many people to thank, mainly my acting teachers I had on this journey. My directors that have changed everything for me: Janaina Suaudeau @jsuaudeau, Thiane Lavrador @thianelavrador, Nike Doukas. The amazing filmmaker Renato Coelho @renatocoelhop. My co-workers: Leticia Almeida @ltyleticia, Catarina Bijotti @catibijotti, Davi @davitfp, Thaynara Brito @elle.albatros, Larissa da Matta @larissadamatta_ e Fernanda Naomi @ fefenaomif. Last but not least my mom, Sonia Passarella. She has been my biggest support and I’ll be forever grateful for her
