Meet Carson Breber | Host of Nerd Sesh

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carson Breber and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carson, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think the fact that our content is distinct and different from the norm in a very over-saturated sports media landscape has been key to our success. Instead of starting from a generic sports talk place, we began on TikTok by occupying the specific niche of sports trivia, where our knowledge is unique and stood out. That led to exponential growth on TikTok, which allowed us to grow on other platforms and expand beyond just trivia to give our own opinions and analysis, in which we still have a pretty distinct brand of “nerdy,” intensive breakdowns. We also have an excellent collaborative dynamic and people often tell me they enjoy our on-screen chemistry and humor as something else that makes us different, so the fact that we’re close friends has definitely helped in multiple ways.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m just very proud that we’ve gotten to a place where we can do this for a living and bring people joy. We’ve both long wanted to be in sports media, and the way I see it, we have two primary goals with every piece of content we put out: to entertain and to inform. We want to make people smarter about sports and improve the discourse, and we want to have fun doing it. So much of sports media is nasty and disingenuous and click-baity and misinforms the audience, and we do our best to combat that in our own little space.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shout out The Volume, the company we get to do our show for, founded by Colin Cowherd and led by Head of Content Logan Swaim. It’s been incredible for us to get to have a platform with a company that encourages our own independence and creativity so much and empowers us to do really exist as ourselves and do what we think is best. It’s also super cool to operate under the same umbrella as media figures like Colin himself, Shannon Sharpe, Nick Wright and awesome athlete/ex-athlete podcasts run by Draymond Green, Richard Sherman and Jeff Teague.
