Meet Carson Ferri-Grant | USA Actor and Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carson Ferri-Grant and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carson, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
As an actor-artist I am on a continuum evolving to my next discovery. Change frightens, excites, then inspires me to adapt and reevaluate my quests. Through my seven artistic decades, I strive to unfeather my inner voice, my emotional and spiritual journey onto my medium, in my acting roles and on my canvas.
One might ask if ‘change’ is good or bad in one’s life.
Lao Tzu, “A strong wind may topple the sturdy oak, but the willow bends and lets the wind pass.”
Socrates, “The secret to change is to focus all your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.”
Mahatma Gandhi, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”
Moving from fifty years in NYC to LA in 2019 was a productive decision for me. I love being part of California, inspired by the amazing people, their cultures, and of course, the weather and the beauty.
Last year in the LA Art Show 2023, I exhibited two pointillistic oil painting series “Swim”, the story of a young mermaid into motherhood; and “Splash”, a sunrise saunter along a Cape Cod beach.
Now applying my color theories to an Ultra-Contemporary abstract-style and visualizing the positive energies I feel in California, I have successfully painted three new series (70 paintings): “Contrived Feeder”, “Cali Cosmos”, and “CA Oceania”. For their viewing exhibitions, I have applied to the Beverly Hills Art Show 2024 to exhibit the “Cali Cosmos” series. The “Contrived Feeder” series has been accepted to the LA Art Show 2024 at the LA Convention Center, February 14-18, 2024, sponsored by FilmPens Studio Gallery. Please stop by Booth #1345 for a pleasant conversation and to enjoy my artwork.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
LA has bountiful landscapes and waterscapes. A special morning for me is to have a California day-getaway to explore my environment. Today will be San Gabriel Mountain, Highway 39. First stop will be the San Gabriel Reservoir leaving the car in the public parking area to take a cool river swim. Then I will continue to the higher altitudes of Crystal Lake for a fun picnic and scenic potpourri. Since the road is not well lit, traveling down the mountainside in the early afternoon makes for a safer event.
With time to spare I will take the road connections from Highway 605 to Highway 60 exiting at South El Monte. Entering Whittier Narrows Park with enchanting paths for a run around their five lakes with estuaries of wildlife flocking at the water’s edge. The Park is open until sunset.
Hunger for a malted ice cream shake, burger, and fries at Norm’s Diner, in El Monte with their Americana menu, or a quick drive north to Duarte City, for Grano Italian Restaurant, as my favorite.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As a wondrous spirit, I have listened to the elders, the teachers, the momentary conversations with strolling passersby, park-bench sitters, elevator, bus, train, and plane riders, and to the counter servers who have shared their experience in a story, provoking my creativity.
I often emulate Mark Twain in his curiosity for people, “Kindness is the language the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” And his wisdom on creativity, “Don’t part with your illusions. When they are gone you may still exist, but you have ceased to live.
