Meet Cathy Baron: Actress & Pole Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cathy Baron and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cathy, how do you think about risk?
To some, risk is a scary word. Being “risky” often holds fear of loss or change. To me, risk comes with opportunity. Change has never held me hostage and because of this, I have had the audacity to be risky in my career choices. I would have never booked any of the acting roles I have if I did not believe that risk was worth it. I wouldn’t have even moved to Los Angeles or started teaching pole dance. Sure, we can think “but what if I lose?” I think “but what if I win?”

Please tell us more about your career. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Hi! My name is Cathy but I introduce myself as Cat these days (I think it fits me better.) I’m a film and TV actress and I also teach pole dance classes and choreography. I now know that I was not given the easiest path towards my dreams. I didn’t have the support, self esteem, or tools early on in life for a path to a quick success story. I think a lot of my success in life has been in overcoming my demons, forgiving those who abused me, and persisting, nevertheless. Along the way, I have learned that there is enough room for everyone to be successful. I have learned to stand up for myself and stay strong in my convictions. I have learned patience, how to handle rejection and use it as ammunition to keep going, and I have learned to let go of expectations of what I thought life would be. I believe that hard work, perseverance, vulnerability, and kindness will greatly impact one’s journey to achieving their dreams. I’d rather not go on about me and what I have achieved, but rather encourage anyone who is reading this to never give up, seek help from others along your path, stay true to yourself, and most of all (and with urgency)…do whatever it takes to learn to love yourself. Stay creative however you can and don’t let that inner child die. Paint, dance, sing, create music, act, dream, draw, build, learn. We need artists in the world.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
