We had the good fortune of connecting with Celeste Rodrigues and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Celeste, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I used to drown myself in work, even when becoming a mother. I had NO balance. I realized there are moments and time that you will never get back. As much as I love and am in love with what I do, I’ve started to organize my time between time with my daughter/family and time for work and creating boundaries has been very important. I never had clear boundaries for myself and my work life. It has helped me to be more organized and carry less stress and to be present with each.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
It has never been an overnight success, it’s taken a lot of work. It has taken blood, sweat and many tears to get here. In such a glamorous industry there are so many parts of it that haven’t been that. Years of hard, consistent, tireless hours, the amounts of failures, the amount of money invested, not taking days off or holidays off to be with family have all been the hardships but the reward of having this business and developing long lasting relationships with my clients is what its all about. I am very grateful to still be standing today especially after everything this pandemic has put so many small businesses through.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would say lets hit all my fave foodie spots. I love good food, drinks and great ambiance! Din Tai Fung Century City
Crustaceans Beverly Hills
Fire Fly Studio City
Greenhouse Sherman Oaks for fresh juices and acai bowls
Fryman Canyon for a little hike.
Malibu Cafe for a fun day out.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In these crazy stories we all have to get to where we are today there is always specific people who stand out in your story as to why you went so hard. My friend Melanie Speed, who is a nurse injector in our industry, has always told me sky is the limit and there isn’t anything I can’t do. If I ever needed help in any which way she was always there, even if it was just to talk through my thoughts or get her take on what I should do with the problem at hand. She is an amazing mother, wife and the hardest working woman I know and so grateful to have a mentor and friend like her in my life pushing me and supporting one another.
I also have to give a shout out to my daughter London Rose. She may only be 4, but these last 4 years I have never worked so hard and with such clarity until I became her Mama. I have vowed to myself to do everything in my power to make sure she is always taken care of and to live the best life I can give her.
