We had the good fortune of connecting with Cetera Jacobs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cetera, how do you think about risk?
I associate the idea of risk-taking with fear. I believe that when we see certain moments or decisions in life as a ‘risk’ it is because we fear the unknown and/or fear being uncomfortable, which leaves us feeling like we have to ‘risk’ or give up something. I believe that the greatest lessons/opportunities are on the other side of fear. For me, taking risks has been a major part of all I have accomplished and will accomplish in the future. I have moved to a new city alone multiple times, taken opportunities that were out of my comfort zone, to name a few. I will say, the biggest risk I have taken was believing in myself and having faith that I can do anything I want in life. If we are not willing to risk and take chances on ourselves how could we possibly look to others to do so. Truly believing in myself and visualizing everything I want to accomplish. Understanding that I must continue to push through and forward because faith without work is dead. I  have learned that the power of protecting your peace and energy is the key. Once you become aware of how those around you are affecting your day to day life and then taking the steps to remove those people or things, you will see how much more peaceful life can be. And with peace comes a clear and powerful mind.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Photographer & Creative Director. In photography, I specialize in Music & Lifestyle, and I am looking to gain more experience doing Portraits & Editorial. After two years of planning, I launched my company “Aligned Visuals” this year. With Aligned Visuals. I want my work to effectively express emotion and authenticity. At this moment, I am most proud of and excited about the amazing opportunity I received this year, working with, Remey Williams a multi talent singer/songwriter, producer and musician, as his Photographer and apart of his creative team. Fun Fact: The first ever concert I shot was for St. Beauty in Nashville,TN when they were the opening act for Janelle Monae on her Dirty Computer Tour and Remey was their drummer. I had some photos of him I shared via IG and that was that. Now here we are years later! Definitely a full circle moment! His new single “Real Love Aint Safe” is out on all platforms and the music video and behind the scenes video is on Youtube! I am also the Creative Director & Content Producer for the non-profit organization “Made In Her Image” an organization dedicated to the advancement of young women, girls and non- binary youth of color within film, media and technology.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Food: I fell in LOVE with Ethiopian food when I was living in Los Angeles. My go to spot is Lucy Ethiopian Restaurant (2018 W Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90018). They know me by name and have my order memorized! The food is amazing and the service is even better. For the vegans out there, Sage in Echo Park is to die for! Places to visit: Anything outside is always a go to for me. I love visiting the beach, hiking and even chilling at Echo Park to read a book and relax. Leimert Park is also a wonderful neighborhood to check out! There’s always something happening with beautiful energy and beautiful people.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shout out to the few close friends I have that hold me accountable and keep me motivated. I know lots of people, but there’s a small group of my closest friends that keep me going. All we do is speak life and abundance to and through each other. We sit on FaceTime for hours talking to each other about our challenges and how we want to overcome them. We don’t hold anything back. I also leave every conversation, whether it’s all of us talking or just 1:1, feeling like I left with more than I came with. I have really learned what it means to have positive, healthy, non-judgemental, supportive, and drama-free friendships. Love you guys for life!!!!
