We had the good fortune of connecting with Chad Cook and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chad, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Happiness is the most important factor behind my success. Having a vision and bringing it to life allows me to be able to do what I absolutely love everyday while living the lifestyle that I choose. The success behind both my brands CCH Scissors and Chad Cook Hair Salon is the community and family I have built with like-minded people that want to create and cultivate together. Chad Cook Hair Salon and CCH Scissors has developed into a team of stylists and entrepreneurs that bring forth all their individual talents to represent the same dream of creativity and happiness. Have a purpose and you will hit success,
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Hairdresser / Salon Owner / Entrepreneur Getting to where I am today, was it easy? No, nothing comes easy. I have overcome all the challenges and will continue to do so by having a vision and going forward without looking back. You can’t let fear get in your way, you have to stay focused on your goal and keep moving. It may be a rough road ahead at times, but with anything worth fighting for there is challenges but that is what teaches you to learn and grow. I think my greatest quality that sets me apart from others is my passion for my team, customers and clients. I truly care about everyone and treat everyone with kindness. You never know what people are going through in their lives, but I hope that when they come in my salon they feel safe and in a comfortable environment that they can be themselves. I want the world to know that I do what I do because I absolutely love every moment of it and want my brands to inspire others to go get what they want and anything is possible if you have the right mindset.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Of course the first stop would be my salon, Chad Cook Hair Salon for a fresh new cut. Then we head out to the marina and grab a drink at Jamaica Bay outside on the patio by the fire pits. The week would continue with bike rides to the Venice Pier, Santa Monica and Manhattan Beach. Restaurants along the way to check out would be Hinano’s for the best burgers, the Whaler for a tasty cocktail and Baja Cantina for some delicious Mexican food. The next few days we can check out Abbot Kinney for some fun shopping and grabbing a glass of wine and snacks at Zinque. If the weather is right we can get some surfing in and hit up Malibu Seafood for fish and chips. My family and I are lucky to live so close to the beach, there are no bad days always sun shining.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give this shoutout to my number one fan, my MAMA Sylvia Lopez. Since day one, she has been telling me to follow my dreams. She has always been a creative loving person and saw that creativity in myself. Always reminding me to live in the moment and appreciate what I have not just what I want. She was actually the one who told be to go to beauty school and the reason I started doing hair. Thanks mom for always believing in me. Throughout my career I have had a lot of mentors, love and encouragement that I am thankful for everyday and won’t forget.
