Meet Charles Almero

We had the good fortune of connecting with Charles Almero and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charles, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
As a Creative, I’m inspired by many things. It could be what I embark while running an errand, or it can be when I place myself in isolation. I’m drawn to what my feelings gravitate to, and I think that’s where I’d like to take my audience. I’m a Filipino-American that migrated here in the States at the age of 6. I come from a very strong family background from both my Mom & Dad. Both have made sacrifices to give their children an opportunity here in the States, and through them, I carry that pride knowing where I came from. And that’s what inspires me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Whether it’s art, music or cooking…I love it all.
I think every Creative is unique in their own way, and that’s what sets us all apart from one another. It’s inspiring to see someone else’s painting, to hear someone’s music or to taste an innovative dish that someone has put together.
With my art, I love detail and color. At times, when I’m working on an art piece, I’ll pause for a minute to think about how many lines or circles I have to do. It’s a little daunting, but I keep going and rthe end results are awesome.
Music, is such a big part of me. Growing up, music was always on at our house. Whether it was my dad playing music by Elvis or The Beatles, or if it was my two older brother’s bumping that 90’s hip-hop. I grew up appreciating all types of music. The music I’ve written, or have been a part of, all stems from everything I’ve experienced. I love grooving to a dope beat or when that moment you hear a tasty guitar riff that just gives you the “stank face”. It’s hard to explain, but when you write music that has that “sweet spot”, it just feels so damn good. And, that’s what I’m all about. It’s the Pasíon…
I’m not a professional chef or anything, and I didn’t even go to school for it. But. my parent’s are great cooks and that’s where I learned how to get down in the kitchen. We all have those favorite dishes that we always go for when there’s an opportunity. I enjoy it so much, that I end up learning how to recreate it at home. I’m very lucky that my wife also knows her way around the kitchen too, and it’s so synergistic what her and I can do. You know, I’m very certain that we will have a small restaurant one day. We’ve already been told that we should, lol.
Getting to where I am now, as a professional, is not easy. You have to be disciplined and dedicated to where (or what) you want to be. You’ll meet all sorts of people too. Some will help, and some won’t and probably will take advantage of you. I’ve learned to stay focused and trust yourself. Keep believing, and don’t stop. Never get discouraged when feeling like you’re not good enough, of if someone is better than you. Cut that s*** out, and keep going!
What do I want the world to know about me? Simple. I’m just a creative human being.
