We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Neille and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chelsea, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of Golden Hippie Co is the ability to treat my community as an extended family member. Golden Hippie provides a safe space to feel honored and celebrated. My brand is huge on the idea of community. I interact daily on social media, reach out often, and even go and support whenever I can. Every win is a win for the community and I make that known. On this journey of entrepreneurship, the community of GH the most important factor in the success of my brand.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Golden Hippie is my baby, built right at the beginning of the pandemic. Golden Hippie provides funky one of a kind accessories for the visionary to feel golden! The whole basis behind my brand is when you look good, you feel good. Once you feel uplifted and empowered, you do the same to the people around you and you uplift your community. Golden Hippie was built from the need for financial freedom, as well as a way to empower others and my community through accessories and other items. The proudest thing that I can say Golden Hippie has accomplished, was having our 1st annual backpack drive within the 1st year of business. My community and I were able to provide school supplies and backpacks to 20 families which I’m so proud of. March 14, 2021, will be GH’s 1st birthday and I’m so excited about it, running a business isn’t the easiest (esp with no previous knowledge about business or crafting) but through grace, determination, and positivity we are still standing! I have learned so many new skills, and insight about business and myself as a person. I thank Golden Hippie for providing this new life for me. I really want the world to know that once you stop by Golden Hippie prepare yourself for good times. My 2 “taglines” for GH are Peace and Love Always and “Stay Golden”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I reside in “Tha H”, H-Town or Houston to be more formal. Houston has some of the best mom-and-pop shops to eat at! Some of the food spots we have to hit are the infamous Breakfast Klub, Turkey Leg Hut, Timmy Chans, Burger Park, and The Stuffed Potatoe Factory. If we want to get a little bit fancier we can go to Steak 48, Max Wine Dive, and Beni Hana. Then we have to go sightseeing, I would take you downtown to see my alma mater, the University of Houston located in 3rd ward. After, we could go and take pictures at the Leeland graffiti park, and then go down the street to Dallas St, and go bar hopping, real chill vibes. Retail therapy is your fun then we can all go to The Gallo (Galleria) or Post Oaks Shopping center. Katy Mills Mall Baybrook, and Memorial City Mall are some great places as well! Of course, any guest of mine will always finish their stay with a huge homecooked meal (of your choice) by the one and only Golden Hippie!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to shout out the gold miners that keep the Golden Hippie shiny, my family. I’m so grateful to have such a great and strong support system. They have always been so loving, which flows right into my business. I thank them! Shout out to my in-house photographer and partner. He is such an amazing human being, that deserves the world and more. Shout out to my good friend Miss Martha Reyna, for seeing the potential in me and Golden Hippie to even nominate my brand to this amazing publication! Finally, shout out to the amazing folks in Shoutout LA for giving me this opportunity! This means the absolute world to me.
