We had the good fortune of connecting with Chen-An Lin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chen-An, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
From the moment I decided to become a professional artist, I started thinking about how to develop and promote my art. I think an art career has to be about interacting with people, for people to see my art. In addition to running an Instagram account, participate in Art Battle or other art events to communicate with people in the art world, and participate in art competitions to gain experience. As artists, we should often visit exhibitions and galleries, learn about the art market, and learn from artists we admire. A career in the arts is not a one-and-done endeavor. In addition to promoting and reaching out to more people from a commercial point of view, in terms of cultural value, it also needs to have an intersection with society in order to share and inherit the value and influence of art.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am excited when each piece of work is collected. Currently, in addition to one work being exhibited at M31 Technology Corporation, there are works scheduled by other companies in progress. My artistic foundation was established at the Academy of Art University. The tutors here have solid teaching and have a great influence on the establishment of professional ability. There is healthy competition among students and they are very serious about their studies.
I want the world to see the soul and regret in my paintings. In the “Passing Passer Series”, I try to present a view on life and time.
We all go through several journeys in our short lives. During the journey, you and I are both passers-by, passers-by in the long river of time, passers-by in this world, and passers-by in each other’s lives.
“The scenery remains the same, but the people and affairs are no longer”. The same mountain, the same tree, the same sun, the same scenery, but the difference is the people.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am currently living in London, and I highly recommend that everyone visit the galleries and art galleries in London. Most of the exhibitions here are free admission, and you can absorb a lot of artistic nutrients in London, such as: Tate Modern, Tate Britain, Royal Academy of Art, Goldsmiths Center for Contemporary Art…etc. Also, I sincerely welcome everyone to join Art Battle London. I once won the championship at Art Battle San Francisco, which is a joyful art event where you can meet many artists and watch the creative process.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt, I am most grateful to my parents for always supporting me unconditionally. They not only supported me financially, but also encouraged me not to give up easily and to give my all. The last words my father wrote to me before he died were “Just do it!”.
