Meet Chiara Spampinato | Creative Producer and Mixed Media Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chiara Spampinato and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chiara, why did you pursue a creative career?
Embarking on an artistic and creative journey wasn’t just a choice for me, it was a calling, a deep-seated desire to craft moments that resonate, to weave narratives that stir souls, and to leave an indelible mark on the world around me. Hailing from the vibrant land of Sicily, my journey took a poignant turn when I found myself in the heart of the UK, a young dreamer seeking to carve out my path in this vast tapestry of life.
At the tender age of 19, I felt the stirring within me, a fervent passion to capture the essence of life, to distill emotions into visual poetry, and to share my unique perspective with the world. It was then that I realised that my destiny lay in the realm of creativity, in harnessing the power of imagery to forge connections, evoke sentiments, and foster change.
Choosing to pursue my studies at Ravensbourne University was a pivotal moment, a conscious decision to immerse myself in the rich tapestry of the visual creative world, to master the technical intricacies of photography, and to delve into the enchanting realms of film and theatre. As I embarked on this transformative journey, I didn’t just learn the tools of the trade; I discovered facets of myself that I never knew existed, each click of the shutter, each frame captured, a testament to my unwavering commitment to my craft.
But my journey didn’t begin at Ravensbourne, it was nurtured in the embrace of my family, who instilled in me a profound appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us, and gifted me with a DVC video camera that would become the catalyst for my creative odyssey. Their unwavering support and boundless encouragement for my passion, igniting a fire within me to explore, to experiment, and to push the boundaries of my creativity.
For me, pursuing an artistic and creative career isn’t just about honing my skills or furthering my ambitions, it’s about embracing vulnerability, channeling my emotions into every brushstroke, every composition, and every frame. It’s about daring to dream, to envision a world where art isn’t just a reflection of reality, but a catalyst for change.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is an extension of myself, a vibrant tapestry woven from the threads of my experiences, passions, and dreams. What sets me apart from others is not just my technical prowess or creative vision, but the essence of authenticity that permeates every piece I create. I strive to capture the raw, unfiltered beauty of life, to evoke emotions that resonate deeply within the hearts of those who behold my work. What I’m most proud of is my ability to translate my unique perspective into tangible expressions of art, whether it be through captivating photographs that freeze fleeting moments in time or immersive storytelling that transports audiences to alternate realities. I take great pride in my versatility, in my capacity to seamlessly transition between mediums and genres, all while staying true to my artistic voice.
My journey to where I am today has been anything but easy. It’s been a rollercoaster of highs and lows, a labyrinth of challenges and triumphs that have shaped me into the artist and individual I am today. I’ve faced rejection, self-doubt, and moments of despair, but through it all, I’ve emerged stronger and more resilient than ever before.
Overcoming these challenges required unwavering determination, a willingness to embrace failure as a stepping stone to success, and a steadfast belief in my own abilities. I surrounded myself with mentors, collaborators, and fellow artists who lifted me up during the darkest of times, reminding me of the boundless potential that resides within me.
Through perseverance and sheer grit, I navigated the murky waters of the creative industry, carving out my niche, and forging meaningful connections along the way. Going to parties and network events I’ve met so many good friends that are now my collaborators. Every setback became an opportunity for growth, every obstacle a chance to prove my resilience, and every triumph a testament to my unwavering dedication to my art.
Along the way, I’ve learned invaluable lessons about the power of perseverance, the importance of authenticity, and the beauty of embracing vulnerability. I’ve learned that success is not measured by external accolades or recognition, but by the impact we make on the lives of others and the legacy we leave behind.
What I want the world to know about me and my art is that at the heart of it all lies a deep-seated passion for storytelling, a relentless pursuit of excellence, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference. And this is also why I am pursuing not only the career of Photographer but also the career of Creative Producer. My art is not just a reflection of who I am: it’s a beacon of hope, a catalyst for change, and a testament to the transformative power of creativity.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in London is not easy, especially because of the weather and a girl who comes from Sicily is accustomed to the sun. However, in this hectic city, there are so many options to have fun and so many things to explore and get inspired by, even if it rains. As a professional Producer, I will do a itinerary of a week for you to show you my fav typical days.
Day 1 – Friday: East London Exploration and Parties
As first day I would bring my friends near my areas, I live in E14 near Canary Wharf, so I would start there. Doing a little tour and going to have a boozy brunch at Big Easy, where you could admire Canary through the terrace by the river while you listening to some live blues music. As we finish, I would bring my friends following the river going to Hackney Wick, where we could go for a little boogie.
Day 2 – Saturday: Relax and Nature
The previous day was intense, I made my friends taste the hectic London by night, we wake up with the perfect breakfast for the hangover, the English Breakfast, eggs, bacon, beans and a large mug of cappuccino. For today the best solution is immersing ourselves in the nature of the beautiful park of Northern London, Hampstead Heat. The park offers a serene escape from the city with its picturesque landscapes, peaceful ponds, and panoramic views from Parliament Hill, where I can shoot some videos and pics of my friends. Its tranquil atmosphere and rich biodiversity making it an inspiring and relaxing retreat for nature lovers and city dwellers alike. Then after the sunset we move to a pub near by to have some dinner, their mash and pie here is very famous, its name is The Spaniards Inn.
Day 3 – Sunday: Living in Vintage Style
Classic Sunday is to visit Portobello Road Market in Notting Hill, known for its vibrant array of antiques, vintage clothing, and eclectic treasures. Exploring the stalls and shops lining the street, soaking in the nostalgic atmosphere, listening to the stories of the sellers and farmers, taking some pictures and tasting traditional food.
After, a leisurely brunch at a retro-themed café, savouring classic dishes like eggs benedicts or fluffy pancakes and cakes served with a side of nostalgia and a splash of a tasty tea in the beautiful Peggy Porschen cafè, we make our way to a pub to have the special English Dish – the Sunday Roast. Best place to go and eat it is at Blacklock.
Day 4 – Monday: Tourist Day
We could not miss the classic walk around the museums in the historic centre of London. On a gloomy day, I let myself be inspired by the great halls full of art and culture. This is my typical day. A full day sightseeing in the museums along the Thames, from the National Gallery to the Tate Modern, ending the tour with a Theatre show at the Royal Opera House.
Day 5 – Tuesday: South Explore
A day in Greenwich is a favorite of mine. It begins with exploring the Cutty Sark and browsing through Greenwich Market. After a leisurely lunch at a cozy cafe, I wander through Greenwich Park and visit the Royal Observatory. As the sun sets, I stroll along the Thames Path, enjoy dinner at a riverside restaurant, and end the day with evening entertainment at Greenwich Theatre or a historic pub. It’s a perfect mix of history, nature, and relaxation.
Day 6 – Wednesday: Rock n Roll
Camden Town and Primrose Hill – a day of underground adventure that never fails to captivate my soul. It begins amidst the vibrant energy of Camden Market, where I immerse myself in the eclectic mix of sights and sounds. After a satisfying lunch, I escape to the hidden gem of Primrose Hill, where the panoramic views offer a secret sanctuary from the city bustle.
Exploring the charming streets of Primrose Hill Village, I discover hidden treasures in its boutique shops and cozy cafes. As night falls, I dine in at the Jazz Cafe, relishing the mysterious ambiance and flavoursome cuisine. And then, the evening crescendos with an electrifying rock gig in Camden, where the underground music scene pulses with raw energy and rebellion. My fav place to go to listen to it is Underworld, where a mix of rock and indie music goes all night long. It’s a day of underground exploration and unforgettable experiences that linger in the depths of my memory.
Day 7 – Thursday: The Last Day
The last day in London is a bittersweet mix of reminiscence and celebration. It begins with a cozy breakfast at a local café, followed by a stroll along the Thames with a rented bike, where iconic landmarks evoke memories of our adventures. After immersing myself in a museum or gallery, I retreat to a historic pub for lunch. The afternoon is for neighbourhood exploration and last-minute shopping for souvenirs. For dinner, I choose a special restaurant, maybe Dishoom, savouring each bite and the city’s ambiance. As night falls, I find a spot with a view of London’s skyline, right in front of Tower of London, reflecting on the time me and my friends spent here together.
This itinerary offers a mix of history, culture, nature, and hidden gems, allowing you to experience the diverse facets of London in a week.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A big, and not a little, credit and recognition in my story goes to my family, who always supported and pushed me to dream and live to the fullest! Also a great thank you goes to Giulia Asquino, my partner in crime, who always believed in my dreams and helped me realise them, working together and making our dream come true.
