We had the good fortune of connecting with Chloe Nordlander and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chloe, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want people to remember me, and my businesses, for three things that have guided every career decision I’ve ever made: fearlessness, transparency & how I make people feel. As an entrepreneur, I really live by the saying “feel the fear and do it anyway,” and this is one of the things I would say to any aspiring entrepreneur. I hope that part of my legacy is showing people that you can go for what you want to create in this world, you just need to be fearless about it. I would hope that if I inspire anything in others, it’s to always set fear aside to chase your passions, whatever that may look like. Transparency has also always been a cornerstone of any business venture for me because it connects you with your audience – whoever is engaging with your business or brand. I don’t really do overly polished because it’s not me and therefore it shouldn’t be my brand. I like to bring a human aspect into my work and I’ve found that people really respond to that. It ties in to how you can make people feel through your work, whatever field it’s in. My love language is acts of service and to me, this really boils down to making people feel good about themselves, feel empowered. As a Scorpio stellium, it’s all about the feels for me, always. If I can create a lasting emotional experience for someone, I’m happy with my job. Being a survivor of some pretty difficult things, I’ve spent a lot of time sitting with the dark and ugly of the world and this has really shaped my goals for what I want my legacy to be. I want to create as many beautiful experiences for people as I can. I guess I just want to touch people’s hearts with whatever I do and contribute to our world.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
This is interesting because I guess I would say I’m in a transition period. I started my first business in 2016 and built it into a successful CBD Beauty brand & energy healing practice by 2018-2019. I say successful because we were hitting all the markers of “success” – making sales, growing into a wholesale operation, getting features in publications like Vogue & Nylon. But I think my story is unique because in spite of those success markers, I wasn’t happy with my business. There are a lot of injustices I started seeing first hand within the industry that didn’t sit right. I became disenchanted and so I made the choice to move on. I still do energy healing coaching on a part-time basis & was able to close out that chapter of my business by publishing a self-healing workbook that felt like a good capstone to be able to move on with new passions. To me, this is entrepreneurship to the core. You have to define what success means to YOU. If it’s money, follow that. If it’s passion, follow that. If it’s both, make it happen on your terms. I followed my heart and it’s led me to new opportunities to start new ventures and find my own success as defined by me. I think every entrepreneur has to discover what success means for them and then build their career from that. Don’t be afraid to try things, realize it’s not right & then start again.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in Southern California has been such a blessing because to me, the best things to do always involve nature and we have access to it all. I also love places that have entrepreneurial spirit, where independent businesses outnumber big box chains. There are so many amazing local restaurants, shops & businesses around us and the energy is so supportive of that. I think having other people come and experience just that type of hustle backed by local support is a special thing. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m so lucky that every person in my life, my inner circle is unwaveringly supportive of me. Especially my Mom, who showed me the power of being a fiercely independent woman and has always made me believe I can do anything I set my mind to. And my husband, who is the one who encouraged me to quit the day job I hated and start the business I had been dreaming of starting.
