We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris and Corinna Loh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chris and Corinna, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Our team believes that hard work, along with flexibility have been important factors in our success. As a couple that owns their own business, we’re lucky, we can work any 16 hours of the day we want.
Being able to adjust to changing trends is important in not only keeping your customer base, but building it as well.
What should our readers know about your business?
Owning The Iron Door Saloon, which is California’s oldest continuously running saloon, has been a true blessing. Being able to be the current custodians of a historic landmark is a privilege not lost on us.
The responsibility and challenges of keeping a piece of history authentic have proven difficult and exciting.
Maintaining a building that is 170 plus years old is an everyday challenge and learning lesson. You have to be pretty diligent,
It’s also a challenge to keep the authentic old Saloon look while keeping up with modern technological advances.
These challenges have forced us to utilize our team and resources creatively.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being located on the highway that leads to the west entrance of Yosemite makes this national park a no-brainer on where to visit while you’re staying in this area. There is so much to see and experience within the park boundaries, you can spend a lifetime exploring the park. Hetch Hetchy reservoir, which supplies water to San Francisco is a beautiful reservoir and valley that also should be explored.
From hiking, biking, fishing and camping, this area is an outdoor lovers paradise with endless amounts of adventures.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our parents deserve all the recognition. They instilled in us a work ethic that enables us to work long hours in differing conditions of comfort or discomfort. While this is great, the lessons on teamwork, humility and empathy they taught us have proven more valuable for the larger picture. These lessons have allowed us to garner respect from our employees and customers alike, which has helped build loyalty from both.
