Meet Chris Gaunt | Actor, Producer, Director and Screenwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Gaunt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Do What You Think You Can’t Do”

It is amazing what can be accomplished when operating with this mindset every single day! I see so many people who operate in a very safe and secure environment where most things are quite controlled and predictable. I believe we can GROW exponentially when we push ourselves to do things outside of our comfort zone. Say YES to opportunities and then figure out the best ways to accomplish what you have said YES to…by pushing yourself the opportunities can be endless and, you can accomplish things you may have never dreamed possible. It is really incredible what can be accomplished when you do not set self-imposed limitations on yourself. If those around you don’t operate the same way, or they don’t believe in what you can do, then that’s their business. Do not let others deter you from STRETCHING and accomplishing things that are outside of the “usual”or the “norm”.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I proactively exited a more traditional business world after many years in order to work full-time in the entertainment business. Specifically, as an actor, director, producer and screenwriter. I think my ability to stretch myself outside of my comfort zone helps set me apart. I decided to jump into the “deep end” right away when it came to acting, directing, producing and screenwriting. I have a very intense work ethic so, I wanted to develop a mentality of not being out-worked right away. It’s amazing what can be accomplished with a positive can-do attitude, a strong work ethic and setting stretching goals that may be very difficult to accomplish. I LOVE a good challenge so the entertainment field is right down my alley. I had a very successful career in business. So, making the proactive leap was not easy but it was necessary in order for my creative needs to be fulfilled. I did my best to quickly learn as much as possible and then reapply those best approaches to acting, producing, directing and screenwriting. The lessons leaned are to always remain humble, stay laser-like focused, refuse to be out-worked, and to realize that entertainment is a BUSINESS so, I need to behave like a CEO of my own business. I love working collaboratively with cast and crew in order to deliver the best finished film possible. This is a TEAM effort and everyone should feel like they can contribute. And, that their contribution will be recognized and valued.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite things to do is cruise up and down the Pacific Coast Highway! It’s over 600 miles long! I think it is one of the most beautiful drives in the US with the beautiful Pacific Ocean on one side and the glorious mountain ranges on the other side.

I also love going through Beverly Hills, hiking up to see the Hollywood sign, and hitting many of the awesome beaches and their towns such as Venice Beach, and Santa Monica. There are SO MANY things to do…the Santa Monica Pier, Griffith Observatory, Sunset Boulevard, Santa Monica State Beach, Chinese Theater, Greystone Mansion, J.Paul Getty Museum. And, so many great ethnic restaurant to enjoy in and around LA. such as Ethiopian, Tunisian and Nepalese and Mediterranean cuisine. The dining is just fantastic!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My partner and wife of 32 years as well as my daughter and son for believing in me as I transitioned out of a more traditional business world into the world of acting, directing, producing and screenwriting full-time. I would not be able to do this work without their on-going love and support.
