We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chris, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Passion has to met talent in someway or another. I think it’s a delicate balance between being talented enough but also being passionate enough. The work can’t feel like work; it should feel like a pastime. Failure can’t be deal breaker either because failure , for the people with the calling, is just redirection. I think Dave Chappelle said it best, and I’m paraphrasing, but that “being unique trumps talent”. In someway that has to be a factor in manifesting your dreams also.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Los Angeles born and based Actor and Standup. I have a few things lined up I can’t divulge, but I know likability and being on time aka early can really separate you from the sea of talent in LA. Acting and Standup are great creative tools that I am both a huge fan of and love to do. I can say the goal is understanding and to create something new and fresh. The holy trinity of entertainment are comedy, acting, and music. We love (humans) to connect through those art forms. I think if you can become great at one of those three forms of entertainment – in my mind languages – you can help push society forward.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh wow! That’s a very fun and typical question that has many answers. It depends, right? I would definitely take them to Laguna Beach – I love it there. Laguna beach, Malibu, and Venice. Venice for the culture. Malibu for the lifestyle. Laguna for the chill. I know the typical fun idea is Hollywood but it depends when you go. I think Hollywood during the summer is a blast, outside of that it’s okay (ha). We def have to hit The Comedy Store and Laugh Factory. Oh, and because I’m vegan we’d hit up Doomie’s Home Cookin’ and Stuff I Eat. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to shoutout my mother! She has been my constant support. God/Universe as well! All the synchronicities and conformations I’ve gotten thus far. Oh, and I can’t forget my fuel: my son! He motivates me.
