We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Plourde and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, what’s the most important think you’ve done for your children?
I feel like as parents it is our job to be the example to our children. We are here to deepen or develop our emotional intelligence and own who we are so that our children can see how we handle life’s challenges. Loving our children is of course essential but allowing them to go through their own challenges so they can grow up to be successful, happy thriving men and women is a gift.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
2 books that really stand out for me are the Artist Way by Julia Cameron and Linchpin by Seth Godin. They both refer to being an Artist within your craft. Allow yourself to be more than what the job description is and striving to do things outside the rule book (so to speak). No one has the same story, we may have a similar message but your life’s experiences are what allow your message to be marketed to your unique audience. I am so inspired when I see someone owning who they are and every part of their life no matter what they have been through. Those hardships teach us and give us the gifts that make up our strengths and our successes!

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I’ve lived in LA for 20 years and I have to say my favorite places are mostly near the beach. I live in the Southbay and love it down here. Such a great vibe and good people. Some of my spots would be: Manhattan Beach for ocean fun and coffee at 2 Guns is a must (If your hungry the STANwhich breakfast sandwich is my favorite.). A nice drive through Palos Verdes with a walk on the bluff at the Teranea Resort A trip to El Segundo Brewery for an IPA. A good Salad or Burger at Redondo Beach Brewery! The BEST Italian food is Jame Enoteca in El Segundo! OR, you can sit on the hill and check out the ocean at Bruce’s Beach park in Manhattan Beach and order a crepe from Black Flour Crepe Truck!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many different people, books and groups/teams I’ve been a part of…But, I would have to say my foundation starts with my family. I’ve been married to my wife, Laura, for 15 years and we have 2 amazing kiddios (Jake 14 and Josie 8). They allow me to do what I love and support me every step of the way!
