We had the good fortune of connecting with Holiday State and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Holiday State, can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well, being in a band and all…we think the world needs an escape. They need that live entertainment, they need to be able to let go of their burdens and enjoy the moment. Whether that be a 3 minute song or an hour concert, we all need that escape to a better, happier place. Especially during this pandemic, a lot of people are struggling with no entertainment, nothing to really look forward to, and that’s sad. We love being responsible for people’s entertainment. It’s our job to go out there every show and give it our all. That’s why we chose the name Holiday State, we want to take people away from their daily concerns or worries and stress, and put them in a holiday state of mind when they listen to our music or see a live show. We want to see them having fun with their family and friends and significant others. Everybody deserves to feel good, and that’s the impact we have on the world through our music.

Tell us more about you. What sets you apart from others and what are you most proud of?
Well…to start off, we are a Country/Pop group of 3 brothers from Orange County, CA. What sets us apart from others is probably our ethnicity and our sound. We are Hawaiian, Portuguese, Danish, Irish, and Mexican and you really don’t see that mix in country music. The fact that we’re brothers and have this unique blend of harmonies is also a big factor that sets us apart. We also mix our Westcoast R&B/Pop vibe and sound with a Southern Rock/Country twist, so that’s pretty different from most acts in the genre. We are most proud of the success we’ve had so far as independent artists. We’ve put in so much work and have accomplished some great things in only a few years. Our T.V. Debut on “Today In Nashville and CMT premiering the music video for our first single “Friday Feelin” are probably at the top of our list of accomplishments. We are so excited to get out of quarantine and back to traveling and performing live. We’re blessed to be at this point in our careers today, it’s been a crazy ride with a lot of ups and downs and many “No’s” from many different people along the way. You have to get used to hearing “No” if you want to be in this business, but that one “Yes” could change your life. So just keep on going if you really want it, that’s what we did, we never gave up even though we’ve been really discouraged at times. We’ve learned so many lessons along the way… don’t believe everything you hear, don’t have high expectations, go with your gut instinct, if it’s too good to be true, it usually is. If you want something though, you have to make it happen, don’t wait for it, be aggressive, make things happen, network like crazy, make sure you’re in it for the right reasons, and at the end of the day you have to be prepared when opportunities present themselves. Sometimes you might only get that one shot.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Funny enough, our good friend is on leave from the Navy and visiting us next week, here’s our Orange County Itinerary… We start by picking him up Sunday morning at John Wayne Airport and hit up the Rose Bakery in Corona Del Mar for some Cali breakfast burritos. Then party all day off main in downtown Huntington Beach. Hope y’all like to day drink!! On Monday we will work off that day drinking with a hike up Peters Canyon. After that we will be taking the Jeep to do some off Roading at Holy Jim. For Tuesday you know we gotta get our tacos and margaritas on at Hapa J’s in San Clemente. For hump day we will keep it mellow during the day and ride some bikes down to the peninsula in Newport Beach, jump on a pontoon boat and do some fishing around the harbor. Wednesday night we take the party to Buffalo Wild Wings in Lake Forest for some karaoke madness. On Thursday we will catch a local live band at The Ranch in Anaheim, then head over to Incahoots in Fullerton for some line dancing!! To finish the night we will go to The Bungalow In Huntington for some late night drinks. On Friday we got that “Friday Feelin” as always!! We’re spending the day in Laguna Beach, picnic style, as the sun sets we’re gunna light up that bonfire and bring out the guitars. On the way home we stop off and get some late night In n out. For the last day of the trip, Saturday, we start off with breakfast at the famous Harbor House in Dana Point, then head to Seal Beach for the weekly classic car show. Then off to a nice dinner at the Country Club in Newport and to a concert at the Five Points Amphitheatre in Irvine. After that we head to the Pasea Hotel and party til we have to take our buddy back to the airport early Sunday morning.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We definitely want to shout out our parents Pat & Lisa. They’ve been so supportive since day 1. Not just with our music dreams, but with everything. We couldn’t ask for better role models and we are extremely blessed to have them. We wouldn’t be anywhere near where we are today without their love and support. They are our number 1 fans and have been right by our side throughout this whole journey. Thanks Mom & Dad!!
