We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Shelton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?

One thing about my industry that outsiders are probably unaware of is what I call, “the wounded healer.”

Clients often view their practitioners, or health care providers, as people who have it all together.

As the business owner of a holistic healthcare practice, I’ve noticed there’s a misconception that, because a practitioner is licensed, or is a certified healthcare provider, the person must be “healthy.”

When in reality, I’ve encountered a lot of practitioners who are not well. They get into this line of work because they are trying to figure themselves out mentally and emotionally. While, at the same time, they are prescribing or recommending certain treatment protocols for the very condition they are suffering from.

The difference with my practice is that I work a process of continual refinement and cultivation of the principles I teach, within myself. I’m constantly seeking to develop a stronger character, to be mindful over my thought patterns, and to apply forgiveness so I can move on from the past and model this integrity for my clients.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

Morning Crane, INC., doing business as Shelton Qigong, helps natural remedy seekers relieve pain and reduce stress. We offer private sessions, group classes, teacher training, and practitioner certifications; in person and online.

We work with people from all walks of life, from couch-potatoes to professional athletes and celebrities.

We help people with a wide range of conditions, from chronic pain and disease to depression, inflammatory disorders, and even the common cold.

What sets us apart are the vast health benefits that our clients receive. We love to watch those we help reclaim their health and enjoy lives free from chronic pain and disease.

We are on a mission to be of service and to help elevate the consciousness of humanity. We teach simple practices that have profound results; movement, breath and mental focus techniques that improve health, happiness and self-healing.

I have created a method that reproduces these dramatic transformations, and now this knowledge is being offered online though our Qigong Teacher Training certifications, and Curative Qigong hands-on-healing mastermind programs.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I would have my friend start the day with a live class as a member of our Qi Club. Then, after breakfast, we would visit my friend and Hollywood Physique Expert, Eric the Trainer’s private gym. We’d follow this with a nice lunch at The New Deal restaurant in Burbank. And after lunch and a nap, I would take them over to Soulaire Circulation in Santa Monica for an EECP (enhanced external counterpulsation) treatment session. After a satisfying dinner, I’d give them a real taste of LA by taking them along to one of the various red-carpet events, premieres or shows that we frequent as members of this wide community.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I want to give a shoutout to my wife, Parisa Shelton.

When I first started my clinical practice in 2001, I was in a marriage that didn’t support what I was doing and my vision for the world. It also created a lot of unnecessary tension and turmoil in my personal and professional life.

I got out of that relationship. (Thank God!)

Fast-forward, Parisa showed up. At the time, she was looking for space to build her Pilates business.

During our initial meeting, it was love at first sight.

As the relationship progressed, we decided to blend both of our talents and to merge her business with mine.

This has been such a blessing, because we’ve been able to expand our reach to people around the world. She’s been my number one supporter in all my endeavors to spread our message, via TV, books and even articles like this.

It’s great to be with someone who shares the same vision and has similar values, because it allows the creative process and expansion to grow rapidly and effortlessly.

Even if we’re working a long day, it’s nice to know, at the end of it all, that it’s for the same mission.

And in this case, our mission is to serve others by sharing the vast healing resources I have been fortunate to develop through these decades of practice.
