Meet Chris Yamoah: Sports Medicine Recovery Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Yamoah and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chris, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
How i define success is, the ability to set and achieve your end goal. My goal is to help relieave any muscle/tendon soreness or pain by working on flexibility/mobility, smoothening scar tissue build up, cupping/compression therapy to help with blood flow and circulation which promotes healing during each session. I know I’ve reached my goal when my clients get off the table and immediately move better while pain free than they did before seeing me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started Recvry Zone in 2019 which is athletic training based that provides an exceptional muscle recover and stretch system for athletes, weight lifters, and non-athletic clients that want to feel good in their bodies. Each session is set up based on what you and the AT believes needs to be worked on. With the Sports Medicine knowledge, sessions will consist of Scrapping, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) stretching, Cupping, Compression therapy(Normatec) and Massage (Hypervolt). Each session will help improve flexibility, increase blood flow to assist with muscle recovery, and improve posture.
What sets Recvry Zone apart from others is the knowledge and the experience I bring, which has landed me the opportunity to work with professional athletes and officials. Im proud of the accomplishments i’ve made in just two years, the biggest is getting a chance to work in the NBA bubble. The ability to network in that setting will forever be my favorite, also being part of history.
I started out working at Select Physical therapy as a contract Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT) where I was the first ever LAT for District of Columbia International charter school, after that i landed a position at Washington Adventist University as the head LAT. While doing that select physical therapy partnered with the NBA and i blessed to have the opportunity to work in the Washington Wizards home market. When 2019 came around I wanted to have something on my own that i could bring to not just athletes but everyone. So i thought about doing strictly recovery sessions, and hoe beneficial it would be especially to athletes during off season. The process wasn’t has hard because of the clientele i had already built and the connections i already had by family in the NFL and me playing football at Marshall University.
Lessons i’ve learned along the way are to be patient, consistent, discipline, and resilient. Things mat not go the way you want it to right away and that’s perfectly. If you really believe in your plan stick with it no matter, don’t chase the money but perfect your craft and the rest will follow. Some days will be better than others but you have to remember your why and be discipline enough to get push through and keep things going. Consistency will make or break your business. Anyone can start a business but not everyone can keep the business going successfully, you have to be great everyday.
The only thing i want the world to know about me and Recvry Zone is that if I can do it anyone can. What ever you want to do in life, do it. Don’t hold back and remember four important things, be patient, discipline, consistent, and resilient.
