We had the good fortune of connecting with Chrissy Lucia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chrissy, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and raised in England. My mother was Uruguayan and raised us in Spanish, my father is German and raised us in German. We regularly visited family in Germany, Uruguay, and Spain. When I was 14 we moved to Singapore for five years, where I went to an international school and we travelled around South East Asia. I appreciate that multicultural upbringing because I’ve learnt so much from being exposed to different cultures and languages. It’s made me more adaptable to new situations and surroundings. Today, living in Los Angeles and raising my daughter in Spanish, I try to pass on some of that.

Chrissy Lucia Chocolate is raw, organic, superfood chocolate. The chocolate has taken various different shapes and forms, and different names, but the quality of the product has remained mostly the same. There are currently two bars for sale. Tonic Jing, which has medicinal mushrooms and tonic herbs, reishi, chaga, he show wu. These are known to support optimum immunity, mental well-being, healthy skin and hair, anti-aging and longevity. It’s a super smooth creamy bar.
Amazon Power is a protein rich bar, with three superfoods from the Amazon area. Chia seeds give this bar crunch and they not only provide protein but sustained energy. Maca is often used by athletes for endurance, it’s also an aphrodisiac and hormone balancer. Camu is a berry with the highest known source of vitamin C of any food.
The chocolate is made with raw and organic unroasted cacao and low-glycemic coconut sugar.
It’s remained a small business over the years, since starting as a hobby in London, England. I would like for it to grow and expand, I’m currently looking in to marketing and business growth support.
The chocolate bars are a product of my lifelong interest and study in health and nutrition and have been formulated to be a healthy and guilt free indulgence.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I live in Topanga Canyon, so I usually take visitors on one of my local hikes that has an ocean view. Brunch at the local Inn of the Seventh Ray never disappoints and everyone loves the outdoor nature surroundings. I’m most familiar with Venice, Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, and Malibu, I tend to move within those areas with friends, for restaurants, etc. No LA visit is complete without some beach time and I might take them standup paddleboarding. I also love a visit to Ojai, there’s hot springs and I know a place where you can pick the best avocados and citrus.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give that credit and recognition to my late mama. She was a wonderful and present mother, supportive of my interests and choices. We travelled the world together. She was such a warm, friendly and welcoming person, loved by many. Not to mention an amazing cook, who made everything from scratch and often had me involved in the kitchen, helping her, which is probably where my passion for good food started.
