Meet Christen Reed | IE’s Finest

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christen Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christen, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I think initially what I was drawn to an artistic and creative type of career because of the freedom it allows. Not necessarily from rules or anything of that sort but more of freedom of expression and the ability to think, create, and execute whatever I envision and see fit. It in a way let’s me stay true to myself by allowing me to create in any way that is aligned with who I am as a individual.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Most proud of about my art ? I would say the impact it’s had on other people. Initially me making music was a means to my own expression and really just for me to release. Sometimes it was thoughts, ideas, perspectives or events that were unfolding as I experienced them. More so like a documentation. And with doing that, and just staying true to my story and who I am and what I’ve experienced and seeing other people on a large scale relate or be moved about the ideas and thoughts I’m conveying is dope. It’s sometimes surreal, seeing your song on other peoples private playlists or them bumping my music in their car or phone in the morning as they prepare to take on their day. That in itself just taught me or reinforced more that just being you, is a luxury in itself. You never know who you could be inspiring or connecting with and motivating by telling your story and showcasing who you truly are. That also made me excited for the next project I have to come. It’s the same authenticity I had before , but with a more polished sound and delivery discussing a variety of topics that any and many individuals experience. And I think in the end, that’s what I would want the world, my fans to know about me as an artist and the brand I represent. What you hear and what you see is exactly who I am/ who we are. The genuine authenticity of being confident and comfortable in self.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I know fursure, outside of music if a friend visited, we’d definitely hit up a restaurant or food place that delivers great eats and service. Just hang out for a little bit and catch up and talk about life and what’s new. Then after that, depending on the friend and what they like to do, we might go hiking or hit the gym and hoop. If their more chill, we might hit up a theatre in the area and catch a movie or two and then hit one of the malls in the area.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Fursure who first comes to mind is God and my family. Those two things have always been present throughout my life and helped keep me steady and focused when challenges and obstacles were present. And to the same note my friends too. They also have been a constant since I’ve met them and helped with maneuvering through difficult times and motivating, pushing me to reach the next level of the type of person and artist I can be.
