Meet Christian Beckley | Birth Photographer and Doula

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christian Beckley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christian, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I’m inspired by the women in my family who came before me and the women that I am birthing to come after me. I come from a long line of strong business women all successful. These women gave me the tools I needed to survive in this world by doing the things our family has always done and that’s take care of others. From my Great Grandmother down to my Mother we’ve always cared for women and Children and I’m so glad that they blessed me with the same passion and calling.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Birth and Postpartum Doula, Lactation Professional, student of herbalisim, Birth Photographer including fresh48 and newborn photos. I am a one stop doula shop my skills are vast and I’ve honed in on the things that I do very well and that’s how I run my practice. I only do what I do well and therefore when interviewing clients I make sure that they are my ideal client. Having a business is not easy by all means I have had to rely solely on faith because this industry is still not trying to give us the pay we deserve. Number 1 lesson I’ve learned is that everyone isn’t your client. If you learn this quickly it will save you a lot of pain and trauma in most cases. I want the world to know that I am Christian Michelle, Daughter of Cupid Yvette, Daughter of Glenda Ferrell, Daughter of Zelma Maureen, Daughter of Arrie Belle and I will continue to build on the foundation that the women before me have put in place.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit as soon as I picked them up from LAX-Airport we’re immediately going to In-n-out Double, Double with grilled onions please!!!! After we stuff our faces were going back to my house to drop their things and chill before we meet up with some friends at Rustic Kitchen. The next day we will nHave breakfast at the Coffee Company they have the best cheese eggs. Museum tickets to The Broad to see infinity lights we will have snacks in grand park in front of the fountain. We will have Dinner and drinks at Perch Downtown, eat tacos at Chuys LA and Titos Tacos, meat patties at Simply Wholesome and snowballs from Snoball. We will hit up LACMA and the Automobile Museum. .

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom definitely deserves recognition in my success story. Although my business was birthed out of me becoming a mother my mom is who has helped me get here from being my number 1 babysitter waking up at odd hours of the night to receive my kid when I’m being called to a birth making sure she had everything she needed and also allowing me the space to pursue such a career that wasn’t very profitable sometimes. My moms been my rock and a driving force to my success.
