We had the good fortune of connecting with Christin Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christin, what principle do you value most?
Victor Cousin once said, “The universal and absolute law is that natural justice which cannot be written down, but which appeals to the hearts of all.” The value of natural justice matters to me in my life. To naturally feel compassion for someone who is being treated unjustly without anyone telling you to do so is beyond special. It is a very raw and frustrating value to have because not all injustices win, sometimes it takes human sacrifice to really make things change for the greater good. People like Malcolm X, Viola Liuzzo, and James Chaney are perfect examples of that. It is one thing to have that feeling but to actually act on the true value of natural justice can change the world. I believe we all have it in us.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a photographer still trying to make it in the big leagues. If I would’ve known how hard it is to be recognized, I probably would’ve gone to school for financing or something, but I know that I would be miserable. I think the way I see light through a lens might set me apart from others because these days anyone can take a picture. I have concluded no matter what happens with my photography success or not I will always have a camera in my hand.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Okay so pretend Covid 19 does not exist. My favorite thing about Los Angeles is the food of course. My pretend itinerary, let’s do three days. Let’s call it Three Days of Foods. Sunday- Tour of France- Figaro Bistrot- Best mussels Monday- Tour of Mexico- Tacos Tu Madre- Sweet and spicy grilled chicken taco Tuesday- Tour of America – Blu Jam Cafe-Best french toast And many many more
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out the author Bell Hooks who is already well known but her book, “All About Love”. is everything. She describes what love is and maybe should be from her experiences. My favorite quote from the book is , “”THERE CAN BE NO LOVE WITHOUT JUSTICE”.
