We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Wen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christina, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I don’t technically own a business yet but I work as a contractor between audio post production houses. In the beginning I tried to become a staff audio engineer but the reality is, for entertainment industry, I think majority of people end up working freelance and representing themselves on projects. I hustled a lot till I am consistently working with 3-4 facilities/companies so that working freelance provides the stability I need to provide for myself. And being able to work at different places and meet different people end up being very beneficial for me in my career.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a post production audio engineer. My day to day job includes editing, mixing, mastering dialogue recorded for mainly video games and some animation films and TV as well. I have worked on video games such as the Call Of Duty franchise, the Last Of Us franchise, League of Legends, the Walking Dead and many more. Recently I am also transitioning to be working on the dub stage as a mix technician for film and TV, and my job requires me to set up the hardwares/softwares at the studio to be running proper for film and TV mixing. My jobs definitely require hard work as well as deep learning progress in the audio technology realm. I spent a lot of time training and learning from people who started working in the industry prior to me. I think as long as you are willing to take the time, be patient and put in the work, you can really achieve anything you set your mind to. I worked very long hours and try to be as detail oriented as I can, and that has helped me a lot along my career. I am also really happy to share that recently I was nominated for Outstanding Achievement in sound Editing at Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel award for my work on Ori and The Will Of Wisps.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love hanging out around Melrose avenue, very good shopping and food. Then also go camping in Joshua tree, hike at Mount Baldy, beach day in Santa Barbara or Malibu, visit the LA zoo and definitely hit some local bars and businesses as well. I also haven’t been to Disney Land here and I can’t wait to hopefully visit this year. I am a sucker for theme parks. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am very grateful for Formosa Group, the company that is and has been contracting me to work on many amazing projects, as well as helping me get my first award nomination in the industry as a sound editor.
