We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Sebastian Kverneland DC and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Sebastian, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I grew up in Stavanger, Norway, with a family full of renowned engineers. But instead of following their career path, I decided early to dedicate my life to the mechanics of the body. In 2019, I established my practice, the Scandinavian Health Institute here in Los Angeles, which is very inspired by my background. Being Scandinavian is a big part of who I am and how I live my life. It is ingrained in everything I do, including the work I do at my practice, with modern, Scandinavian chiropractic. My focus is always to reflect the values Scandinavians are famous for — innovation, quality, and integrity. Our approach is different from others as we delve into the root cause of our patient’s pain. That way, we can help with both short-term and long-term health optimization. I am proud to bring this holistic, science-based chiropractic treatment of my homeland to my adopted home city of Los Angeles.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We feel very lucky to be able to help patients around Los Angeles. Our approach is highly personalized and we take great pride in bringing modern, Scandinavian chiropractic to more patients. Modern, Scandinavian chiropractic care is a direction chiropractic care that emphasizes scientific-based treatments and our treatment includes routines for stretching, exercise, diet, supplements and lifestyle advice. Building a new practice is always challenging, but I have been lucky to be supported by my friends and family. I want people to know that pain doesn’t have to be a part of life and that we at the Scandinavian Health Institute will do our best to help you find a solution.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
LA is a great city and has so much to offer year round. Some of the places I would include would be lunch in Larchmont Village, a hike in Griffith Park, some hangout time by the beaches in Malibu, a seafood feast in the San Pedro harbor and of course a session at the Scandinavian Health Institute. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many people have helped me and my practice and deserve a shoutout. Every day, my patients inspire me by showing commitment to their health and trusting me with helping them. My friends and family are also constantly pushing me to further my knowledge and grow my practice, which I am very grateful for.
Both professionally and personally, the person who has impacted me the most is my father. From an early age, he instilled in me the importance of hard work and how the work you do will have your name on it and reflects your integrity. He has motivated me to stay focused on quality and how to best serve my patients.
