We had the good fortune of connecting with Christine Li and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christine, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
As much as you find your calling, I think that more often your calling finds you.

Our work is often deeply rooted in who we are and what we value, and it is so intricately connected to our personality, our passions, and our experiences.

For me, being an artist and pursuing an artistic career was never so much an active choice as it was a natural development (and even extension) of who I am: a creative being.

My desire to capture the world as a beautiful place in which beautiful souls exist – and to capture their stories and experiences of love and joy – is what led me to pursue photography.

Honestly, I am grateful that I get to call my passion my career, because when our work is aligned with our core values, we can exist and serve others from a place of joy and authenticity.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a romantic, film-inspired, editorial wedding & portrait photographer, my mission is to capture the important milestones in people’s lives in order to help them preserve the legacy of a life well-lived. More than capturing beautiful images, I believe that the purpose of photography is to document all of the lovely moments, lasting expressions, and unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experiences. My approach to wedding & portrait photography is to always focus on the emotion while capturing the best angles of my clients.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whenever I travel to a new place, I never want to visit only the tourist attractions. I’m all about getting to know what the locals are into. If a friend was visiting my town for the first time, I would definitely give them a blend of touristy activities and local hole-in-the-wall eateries and give them a glimpse of what a day in the life of someone in my city would look like.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I appreciate all of the friends and mentors I’ve met in the wedding industry who have opened their lives up to me, who share with me not only their successes but also lessons learned, who inspire me often to pursue this journey at my own pace.
