We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher Jeffries and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christopher, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My dream has always been to make a living as a professional artist.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I create custom handblown glass sculptures for residential and commercial clients throughout the world. One of the signature series we are known for is our Wall Installation Series. The glass installations are mounted on the wall to creating a sculptural body of work. I have been blowing glass for over 30 years, it has taken me over half my life to get to where I am at. The journey is the fun part, watching the artwork evolve over the years from all the different experiences that life has given me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There’s so many things to do and not enough time. If I had my best friend visiting, the first thing I would do is grab our surfboards and head to the beach for a surf. After getting out of the water we would go get some good lunch at at Nicks in Laguna Beach, or make fresh pokey at home. We love the water, so I probably go hop back on the water for another surf if there’s still waves and watch the sunset in the water. For dinner, I would walk into town and have dinner at Brussels bistro. It’s a little Belgium bistro that sits underground and has a great European vibe, with good beers on tap. Then we would walk home and sit by the fire pit outside and play music, hang out, laugh, and enjoy the night. The next morning I would wake up and hop on the mountain bikes and go mountain biking out the back door. We would ride the trails that surround us in the hills of Laguna Canyon. Our ride would probably end at Laguna Beach Brewery in Laguna Canyon and put some carbs back in us. That evening we would probably come back to the house and barbecue Hawaiian short ribs and have sweet white corn, and salad and play more music together. Maybe an old-fashioned for desert. I feel really lucky we have so much to do in town, and we really don’t have to go that far to have fun.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a big shout out to all the glassblowers that work for me and help me in the studio. Glass blowing is a team process for me, it allows me to work on a larger scale. I feel very lucky to have a great team of glassblowers working with me.
