We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher Lee Umana and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christopher Lee, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
What’s good, Shoutout LA! Thanks for the spotlight. My business isn’t just about media or marketing—I believe it’s a catalyst for real impact. It’s about giving people a stage to be seen while helping communities and businesses shine by connecting them with audiences they didn’t even know existed. Through the art of storytelling—whether behind the camera, leveraging marketing tactics, or decoding social media algorithms—I’ve learned how to position people, brands, and ideas to be seen, heard, and felt in a world often too distracted by glitter and glam.
A few years ago, I was all about photography. When I worked with businesses, my goal was to deliver value through imagery and help them strategically share those photos in a way that worked for social media at the time. But as my business grew, I evolved into videography and saw an even bigger opportunity to create something impactful. It’s a superpower—making people and businesses that feel overlooked become visible, making the unseen seen. We live in a world where attention is currency, and I wanted to shift the spotlight to those who usually go unnoticed.
One of my proudest moments was last year when I took my business back to my roots in Culiacán, Sinaloa. I created campaigns and small productions for about nine local businesses, three vendors, and one bar. I also partnered with a solar company and ran major media campaigns backed by serious budgets. The impact was undeniable—from increased foot traffic to revenue growth, it was surreal. Seeing the boost in their businesses firsthand was humbling. I was able to make a real difference in a place that means the world to me.
Social media related to social impact is like a chessboard—it’s a game of strategy. Once you understand the algorithms and how to target content with intention, the game changes. You’re not just reaching people; you’re driving real results. And those results? They’re not just about likes or followers—they’re about more sales, happier families, and thriving communities. That’s the kind of social impact that matters. That’s the real social impact. It’s beautiful. At the end of the day, it’s relationships over revenue. Get that right, and you’ll see everything fall into place. That’s the formula to make magic happen every time.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art lives in various forms, i consider myself multi-talented, multifaceted artist and creative force. When I’m in the music zone, I go by Sepxber, channeling raw energy into sound. On the visual side, it’s Lost Media Digital Studios—that’s where I dive into photography, videography, cinematography, and post-production magic. And when it comes to modeling and acting, I’m Chris Lee, with a résumé packed with diverse campaigns, commercials, and brand work.
Beyond the creative world, I’m also a black belt in Taekwondo, and I actively train in boxing and Muay Thai. As a hybrid athlete, I’ve played soccer at both the collegiate and professional levels, refining those skills to achieve excellence across different disciplines. All these elements fuel my diverse identity as an artist and athlete, allowing me to constantly evolve.
Ultimately, I’m all about tapping into that inner voice and letting it express itself through multiple mediums. I’m thankful for the journey so far, and as I keep growing, I’ll keep sharpening these skills. My goal? To inspire others to explore their own creativity, push boundaries, and step into their full potential.
What sets me apart as a creative is my distinctive approach to life. I possess a unique perspective that allows me to see things through a lens that many overlook. This duality enables me to navigate multiple viewpoints without absorbing negativity, allowing me to discern the right paths to challenge myself and foster growth.
In terms of my professional journey, it certainly hasn’t been easy. Success isn’t handed to you; it’s earned through relentless determination. If you have an idea, you’ve got to be willing to walk the hard path—take the bus, face rejection, knock on doors, and keep pushing forward even when you’re turned away time and again. That perseverance is what leads to success.
My creative agency didn’t thrive simply because I offered the best product; it flourished because I prioritized relationships and genuinely cared about the objectives at hand. I internalized these values and brought my best to every project. As I immersed myself in honing my skills, I kept evolving, getting better with each endeavor. That dedication is the foundation of my journey and the driving force behind my growth.
Throughout my journey, I’ve absorbed countless lessons since I first embarked on the quest to unlock my higher self and discover my true purpose. The most significant lesson has been the importance of maintaining my individuality—staying true to my authentic creative essence. It’s all too easy to let the outside world, trends, and societal waves dilute what I believe is cool or beautiful, and to stifle where my creative mind wants to roam.
When we lose that sense of individuality, we risk becoming mere echoes of our surroundings, adopting the likes and sounds of those around us. We get lost in the noise. Over the years, I’ve embraced the power of going against the grain, and that has been my greatest revelation.
As for what I want the world to know about my brand and my story? I want the unseen to be recognized. I strive to empower everyone to find their voice and feel like everyday superheroes. We don’t have to conform to the matrix; instead, we can express that divine energy within us and live fulfilling, joyful lives.
I named my company Lost Media as a nod to the nostalgia of my childhood. I fondly remember my mother sharing old photos, cassettes, and videos from our family trips. This concept of Lost Media resonates with me because I believe we all have pieces of lost media within us. Once we uncover these fragments and reflect on our journey, it’s a beautiful revelation. My mantra is to stay original, stay authentic, and stay true to my inner child creativity.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love this question! Los Angeles is a treasure trove of incredible spots. Whenever my friends come to town, the first stop after picking them up from the airport is Grand Central Market. I want them to soak in the vibrant atmosphere of downtown, with its eclectic mix of flavors and the bustling energy of the cafeteria and dining area.
Next, we hit up Santee Alley for some upscale swap-meet-style shopping—it’s the perfect place to find unique gems. After that, we’ll cruise over to LA Live, take a stroll around the Staples Center, and maybe catch a glimpse of the Lakers while grabbing lunch at one of the chic rooftop spots downtown.
Post-lunch, we definitely need to unwind at Venice Beach. A leisurely walk along the boardwalk is a must; we’ll check out the local entertainment and maybe snag some bracelets or sunglasses along the way. We’ll wrap up that stroll at the Santa Monica Pier as the sun sets, weighing our dinner options between sushi or ramen.
To top off an epic day, we’ll head to the Griffith Observatory for a show under the star projector and soak in breathtaking views of the city. Honestly, that’s the perfect blend of LA vibes, and I think that’s more than enough for one day!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I’ve got to shoutout my family—they’re the backbone of my journey. I believe that a strong foundation at home sets the stage for everything. If that’s shaky, success becomes an uphill battle. So, massive love to my beautiful mother, my amazing father, and my brilliant brother for being the pillars that hold me up.
When it comes to friends, I keep a tight circle. But those few who have stood by me know exactly who they are and how much they’ve impacted my path. Real friends are rare, and I’m grateful for the ones that have played a part in my growth.
As for books, I’ve always been a bit of a bookworm, and there are a few that seriously reshaped my mindset. Off the top of my head, I’d say The Alchemist, The Four Agreements, The 48 Laws of Power, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fck*, and Think and Grow Rich are game-changers. These books didn’t just open my mind—they flipped my perspective and gave me tools that have directly influenced my success. Big shoutout to the authors for pushing that knowledge forward.
