Meet Christy Mac | Foodie influencer & Content Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christy Mac and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christy, why did you pursue a creative career?
I still have a 9-5 because who doesn’t loved guaranteed money every week or bi-weekly. I have always been a creative since I was a kid and I felt like I should be able to express through content creation. What I love about content creation is that, there is no blueprint. You can literally create whatever visual you want and the right audience will follow and fall in love with you.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe success is never an easy road. In order to obtain success you always take the stairs, never the elevator. Consistently is your to be your best friend when it comes to being a content creator, artist, business, and/or brand. People want to see what’s next all the time. It’s like their favorite TV show, they can’t wait till the next episode comes on or the next season premieres. I’ve always had a passion for visual art. Of course I’ve had challenges because when you become an influencer or content creator you have to have tough skin or like Rihanna said “ you better pretend!” Because people don’t want to see you win and there will be people who leave nasty comments, who are not supportive and can’t wait till you have a down fall. Me personally, I just let it ride because my content will get to people that will enjoy it and it serves them well and others will just hate from the sideline. Kat Williams once said “if you don’t have Atleast one hater, then you’re not doing something right.” So I guess I’m doing something right and on the right path. I’m growing everyday and opportunities have poured in for me and to be honest, it’s only going keep growing if I keep going. I want the world to know that as a young African American from the Bay Area and grew up in West Oakland, I have made something out of myself that some people wish they had the courage to do and I want to show the world that a girl like me made lemons out of lemonade. Now that I have hit a certain peak in my foodie influencer career, I will be taking things to the next level and I can’t wait for people to see what I have in store for them. It’s going to be epic.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had my best friend or family come to the Bay Area I would take them to some really good food spots like Lux Cuisine, Chef Green for taco Tuesday, Y’s choice in downtown Oakland, or to big Apple pizza and grill in San Francisco and many other great food places here in the Bay Area. Maybe take them to Pier 39 in SF. If they are out here at the beginning of the month, first Fridays in downtown Oakland. West Coast Makers event where different food vendors and other venders besides food are out there. It’s literally so many things to do! Walk around lake merrit and chill.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I really want to thank all my supporters that have been in my corner telling me keep going. Some days are not the best and you want to sit back and take a break but when I run into people that adore my work in person, you can tell they have been in tuned with my work and really watch and engage with every thing. I want to thank my mom for letting me self express myself coming up and never hindered me or try to steer me in a different direction. She as always been watching me from the crowds cheering me on and I feel like that boost me to always be me within my work. A special someone, he knows who he is as been in my corner since the day we met talking about business ideas putting a plan together and executing the idea. I feel like having someone in my corner supporting my ideas, going to food reviews with me, trying different food he’s never had before is a big reason why I showcase a lot of different food from multiple cultural backgrounds. It’s okay to have fun with food especially if it tastes good! Also, who warms my heart the most is the older generation. You would think they are not watching but they are the main ones that come to me and tell me how proud they are of my work and how they’ve tried some food places I posted. Those are the type of compliments that really warm my heart and put a smile on my face.
