We had the good fortune of connecting with Churchboyclipz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Churchboyclipz, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
The Bible says in Isaiah 54:17 NJKV that “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.”
That means that no matter what I’m up against or what the world throws at me, it won’t work or affect me. There’s no need to give it any power or any of my attention.
I like the fact that I can make plans for the future and not have to think twice or worry if my plans are going to be stopped or tampered with because I know that no weapon will prosper.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The thing that sets me apart from others is the fact that I’m multidimensional. Not only am I gifted lyrically, but visually as well. My talents range from fashion to video production, acting, athletics and things of that nature. Since I’m a gospel rapper, I don’t make songs that are commonly on the airwaves, instead, I make music for the soul.
I am most proud of my album “JustAMinute.” I’m so excited about this project as it’s my first solo album ever. I feel like it’s a great body of work. The plan is to shift the culture and I’m trusting God to use this album to do so.
Teamwork, prayer, and understanding my mission/calling helped me get where I am today. Simply having talent only gets you so far, so you’re going to need to be sure what you’re in it for. It has to be something bigger than yourself.
Anything that’s connected to making a change will never be easy, which is why the reward is so great. As far as overcoming challenges, I deal with that in prayer and walking by faith. Sometimes it may seem like you can’t make it or can’t complete something from a distance, but if you keep moving towards the goal, you will look up and see that you’re closer than you think. 💭
Along the way, I learned the importance of having a team that believes in you and the movement. Sometimes it gets hard on the journey and you need some encouragement and motivation, but that’s not hard when you have the right people around you. That’s more important than anything.
(What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?)
I want the world to know that I’m a man of God who has devoted his life to spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. I’m here to teach the younger generations that there is more to life than just money, drugs, sex, and fast cars.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The itinerary for eats would include the following: 1. ‘Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles’ where we would enjoy some delicious soul food!
2. ‘The Pan’ which has mouth-watering American meals
3. ‘Penguins Fish & Chips’ for seafood!
4. ‘Red Peach’ in Inglewood for the best desserts on the planet!
5. ‘BJs Brewhouse’ for great food and a pizookie!
6. ‘PF Chang’s’ for some fire Asian cuisine.
7. ‘Chinollo’s’ in Carson for healthy meals inspired by it’s owners who are Cuban born raised in Peru of Chinese heritage.
8. ‘Happy Diner’ in San Pedro which has a wide selection of delicious options.
In terms of hangout spots, we would spend time at Hermosa Beach playing sports, riding bikes, and walking the pier. We would also spend time at the studio, recording hits! We would hit the Culver City stairs for exercise when we’re not at 24hr Fitness working out and playing basketball. We for sure would visit a skating rink. And on Sunday we would go to church at Calvary Baptist Church of Hawthorne to hear the legendary Dr. Hosea Collins.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
