We had the good fortune of connecting with Cindy Kennedy-Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cindy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
For me, taking risks has lead me not only to personal growth but it has helped me professionally and provided me with opportunities that I never thought were possible.

Unfortunately the worst kinds of risks I took to start growing in my career was family. In this industry you almost have to put everyone 2nd. You have to get up and go and be ready and prepared for anything. If I had something planned… I would have to cancel. Even if it was already paid for.

Having kids is the most challenging… Always questions and never an accurate answer… were are you going? what time are you coming back? why can’t I go with you? why are you always leaving? and of course… the tears would follow.

If you don’t take the opportunity that’s presented to you… they will always find someone else. The more jobs you turn down… the less they will call you and forget about you.

I have missed out on many opportunities that I think if I would of taken them.. I’d be far more advanced in my career.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The road has not always been smooth! In fact, it was the opposite at some points along the way. I wanted to give up so many times! From childhood school closing at a moments notice to now being a mom with two kids I don’t have the same flexibility as someone with no kids. I have to arrange my life according to my kids and their needs, not the other way around. I’ve lost amazing opportunities because of it. I’ve been offered amazing jobs out-of-town, but I know I can’t because of my circumstances. It would affect me, but I knew that everything happens for a reason, so I had to learn to let it go. In this industry, most of the women are somewhat younger than me. So I feel that I have to keep up with them physically. It’s exhausting at times. just as I am. I really want to help others that feel the same way! I want to bring awareness to everyone. I want to help them be “the voice” for them.

I also struggle with panic attacks/anxiety.

A lot of the time, I put a lot of pressure on myself and have panic attacks in the middle of the night because I’m worried that I’m going to mess up and they aren’t going to want to work with me anymore. I wake up in cold sweats and walk around my neighborhood for hours in the middle of the night. I cry on my way home from work or sometimes on my way there because I fear I’m not as good as everyone else. At the end of the day, I’m thankful and learn from everything that I’ve been though and everyone that know or met.

When one door closes, another one opens. If not right away, eventually it will.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being from Los Angeles, CA. Particularly from the South Bay / Harbor Area is a blessing. The weather is amazing and the vibe here is incredible. Disneyland is less than an hour way, the beach is down the street, and the mountains and desert are only a few hours away. We have it all. We are blessed and privileged to live in such a dream world.

Since I live by the beach… I’m lucky to see it almost everyday so I like to venture out…

I would definitely head over to Palm Springs/ Joshua Tree area. The desert is hot but beautiful. Napa Valley for the wine is a must!!

If you want to venture out a bit more.. I’d take them to Hearst Castle, Winchester Mystery House, San Fransisco or Carmel.

I’d definitely take them to local bars near / on the beach. Santa Monica Pier, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Long Beach and Manhattan Beach. Balboa Island in Newport Beach is also a must see! If you want a more peaceful beach experience… head over to San Pedro/Palos Verdes. They have the most beautiful views of the ports, ocean and city views. Huntington Beach has amazing camping grounds and concerts in the summer! Laguna Beach, Newport Beach and Malibu are very high profile and for good reasons! San Diego is one of my favorite places to visit! Pretty much anywhere along the coast is a stunning!

If my guest wants to experience the Hollywood Guide Tour vibe I’d take them over to Hollywood Blvd and make reservations at all the famous Hollywood celebrity hotspots which includes places such as Nobu, Catch LA, TAO, etc. Hollywood has such amazing landmarks but my favorite place in the Hollywood area is the Observatory in Griffith Park. I’m a space nerd and I love the stunning views!

Two of my favorite restaurants that are not in the Hollywood area are Orange Hill and Coco Palms.

We have so many amusement parks in CA and all within driving distance! My favorite is Disneyland! I love downtown Disney too! Universal Studios has its theme park and also the famous City walk. It has restaurants, retail, nightlife and even a movie theater. Buena Park has an amazing variety of entertainment. I love Medieval Times and Pirates Dinner Adventure.

There’s so much to do that I can’t possibly name them all.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God of course is first and foremost! There’s so many amazing people that have helped me along the way. I wouldn’t be who I am if it wasn’t for them. I’d like to start off with my foundation: My Dad, mom and sister were my very first supporters! They are the ones who helped me with everything as a child and still until this very day. I am blessed to have such a strong father figure! He taught me how to be responsible, respectful, work hard and how to be successful. My mother taught me how to love, care, cook and some of the most valuable life lessons. My sister taught me how to stand up for myself, to look at life from a different perspective and to see beauty in everything and everyone. Half way through life I met my other half! To my husband: Thank you for your words of encouragement! You always have something positive to say even when I’m not being the nicest person to you. My two beautiful children who have taught me what life is really about! You guys are what keeps me going. You are the reason I wake up and push myself to be a better person. I love you from the bottom of my heart! I have a very small group of friends that I can count on and I’m thankful for each one of you! Thank you for supporting and believing in me, all 5 of you lol!

Throughout the years, I’ve met wonderful people and I’d like to thank them for helping me through this journey… If I name them all one by one and what they have done for me… it would take too long lol… So to make it short and sweet.. Thank you Bobby, Rick, Ana, Deana, Eileen, Christine and everyone else who has helped me along the way!!
