We had the good fortune of connecting with Claire Harvey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Claire, why did you pursue a creative career?
This is an interesting one for me and one I have thought about ALOT because I didn’t start my career in the artistic field, in fact I started in finance right out of college!
While I spent a lot of my growing years with a camera in hand I was drawn into the busy corporate world post college and despite having to count on my fingers and feeling trapped at a desk I was somewhat successful in my field and found a field that I did really love…. for a while….

Before I had my first child I went back to photography and launched my own business- that was 12 years ago. What I found to be different about me was that I was a creative who is unique in that I’m
Obsessed with the business and marketing side of entrepreneurship as well as the creative- most people just have one side that they love. This is what has really propelled my business AND allowed me to so easily connect with my entrepreneurial
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think a lot of this I answered in the first section.
Do you want to take it from there?
I guess one thing I will add is that I learned that you say what you do even if you are just starting out and not confident. I got a lot of business by saying “I am a photographer” even when I was still
Working two jobs (one in the corporate world)
Also say…. there is always enough business to
Go around. So spend your time networking and building others up, and not about competition
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m obsessed with Venice! I love the Butchers Daughter!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am a HUGE believer in networking and this is absolutely one of my favorite things to do. I could spend hours talking strategy with other entrepreneurs! The organization that I have to say has been most impactful for me is HeyMama. An amazing amazing group of highly successful mom-preuners that is there is lift each other up and provide business support and networking
