We had the good fortune of connecting with Clarissa Echegaray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Clarissa, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley to two loving parents of Mexican and Spanish descent. They always made sure that my two older siblings and I not only never went without but always had everything and more. They both taught me the value and reward of hard work and were always supportive of what I wanted to do with my future. My parents are not only two of the most hardworking people I know but also have the biggest hearts. They showed me that there was more happiness in giving than there was in receiving. They made sure that even though we were fortunate to never go without, that I stayed humble and was always grateful for what we had. Their constant hard work shaped me into the woman that I am today. It made me see that what I wanted for my future would only happen if I put in the work and never forgot where I came from.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Each and every piece of jewelry that I make is a piece of art. Some take longer than others and some are more intricate. But just like a professional artist who makes unique and one of one pieces, I decided early on that I wanted all of my jewelry to be one of one. That way the jewelry you purchase is something you and you alone will own. I think that is something that really sets me apart. Currently what I am most proud of is the chance to share my story through outlets such as these. This is my second interview I’ve been blessed to be a part of and this is an opportunity not many people get, especially being a minority. It’s a victory for my entire culture and all the sacrifices made for me by my parents. Moments such as these makes all the late nights of work and failures along the way more than worth it. It has never been an easy road for me but overcoming the challenges by never giving up and relying on my family has helped a lot. Any challenge that arouse just always reminded me that I couldn’t give up after coming this far. It would have all been for nothing then. Having my own business has taught me a lot of the ins and outs of running a business. I had no one to turn to for business advice and learned along the way as I taught myself the basics of what I needed to know. In the end, I just want my brand to be apart of as many people’s stories or special/personal moments as possible. The satisfaction of making something with my own two hands that can hold such a significance for someone is a whole different feeling.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As cliche as it might sound I truly have to shoutout my family and friends for all their love and support. There are countless amount of moments and times where each and every one of them contributed to my success in someway and I always hope that even in my thanks, that they know how much I appreciate them. I would however, truly love to dedicate this shoutout to my mom. My mom has been my right hand in it all since the beginning. She not only helped me brainstorm my business name but she also helps me come up with names for my jewelry, has been with me at all my popups, and helps me in every way possible when my mind gets stuck trying to execute an idea. My ultimate favorite thing about her is the excitement in her face every time I make something new and show it to her. My mom always makes me feel like I’m doing something right by choosing this venture. She has been through it all with me that I call her my CFO and in a way, she really is. I couldn’t have done a lot of this without her.
