We had the good fortune of connecting with Clarita and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Clarita, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“It is through the alignment of the body, that I discovered the alignment of my mind, self and intelligence” by BKS Iyengar.
This quote strongly defines my life, my evolution and what it has been so far, one of the most profound journeys in my life. In my first yoga class I discovered there was something else under this skin, this flesh, this physical being. It was the first moment I truly connected to something else, far beyond the limit of my physical body. My journey of self discovery started that day, it has never stop and it’s what shines my whole life and work.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Im proud of being out there, I’ve been many years studying, mothering and it was the time to share and communicate all that I know. and have learned. My practice reflects my lifestyle and my values, I want people to know that having a healthy lifestyle is doable and we don’t need to be a monk in the middle of the Himalayas to incorporate ancient healthy routines. Ayurveda and Yoga can be part of your modern lifestyle, it’s simple, easy, available and affordable. Your medicine can be right there in your pantry, It wasn’t easy, it took many years and its been the most satisfying and difficult process I’ve experienced.
I want people to know that simple and small changes are possible, and this little changes make a big difference.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
What I love the most about LA is the amazing nature that surrounds this enormous and high populated city. I don’t like crowds, thats why I always choose natural surroundings.
Beach day and bike ride from venice to santa monica, stopping for lunch at my favorite vegan restaurant Cafe Gratitude.
Hiking and picnicking at Temescal Canyon.
Breakfast at Malibu Farm cafe, the one at the end looking at the ocean, then surfing (if it’s small) and on the way back a walk at the Lake Shrine..
Meditation and sunset at Palisades Bluff.
Hiking at Baldwin Hills enjoying the scenic overlook. Lunch at Destroyer.
Any show at Hollywood Bowl.
Museums: The Broad
Hollywood sign hike at sunset
Mar Vista Farmer’s Market: my top 3 stands: Rice Man, Dave’s korean and the vegan dumplings!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
