We had the good fortune of connecting with Coach Cam and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Coach Cam, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important thing my career has taught me was to believe in myself against all odds. Navigating the music industry can be tricky so having confidence is of high value. I’m thankful that I can stand on my work everyday and build consistency through my passion.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I would say what sets me apart from others is that I am willing to push the boundaries of traditional ways of thinking. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be in the music industry, and I was able to turn what was a hobby into my everyday life. Right now I am most excited about dropping an Extended Play project as well as being apart of multiple major camps in the bubbling Kentucky music scene.

I was able to use my network to gain my first job in the music industry. It came at the cost of moving a few hours away from home right as I was welcoming my first child into this world. The first chunk of my career was spent at a business that ultimately didn’t work out, although I was uneasy about how that unfolded it pushed me to open up a studio of my own.

This experience taught me to rely on my skill as an artist and the network that I have built for myself over the years.

At the end of the day I built my brand on hard work, passion, and imagination.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would say that I have to start my guest with my favorite local restaurants and coffee shops. Some of those include a regional favorite fast food spot Cookout, our hometown favorite coffee shop Spencers, and my personal favorite local taqueria Mexout. As far as local attractions I would take them to the Corvette Museum or if they are feeling more adventurous Mammoth Cave. Then I would love to end the evenings with a stop at a few of my favorite bars, Hilligans and Tidballs. If my guest is wanting more big city vibes we could hop on I-65 and head to either Nashville or Louisville, as I am smack in the middle of both major cities.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My biggest shoutout has to go to my partner Shanna. She has been the one person that has been by my side throughout my entire journey. Shanna has now taken a bigger role past just support by taking lead on branching out my business as she has started her own journey within the music industry.
