We had the good fortune of connecting with Coach Cherry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Coach, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
How to know whether to keep going or to give up? How bad do you want it? How passionate are you about what you are pursuing? That’s how you know. Giving up should never be an option in my opinion. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. I also think that learning to be still is extremely important. If it seems too difficult, or you’re questioning if it’s worth it, sometimes you just have to take a moment to relax and look at the situation from a distance. And there is nothing wrong with that. Take the emotion, the passion out of it. See if what you are doing to work towards your goal is effective or not. And if you have to change you approach or abandon a way of thinking, that’s not giving up. That’s still you moving forward just in a different way. A lot of times, we make things harder on ourselves without even realizing because we never just take a second to stop and observe. So if you’re thinking of giving up, maybe your intuition is actually telling you to be still and listen.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When it comes to my art, I am most proud of the diversity of what I can provide. Because I make sure that I am well rounded in everything I do, I was able to myself and others on my journey. Professionally, companies and artists are always looking for a ton of different aspects to make their projects come to life, and thanks to my team and my training I am always well equipped for the job. I have learned to always be a student. No matter what. I am always willing to learn the roles, even if I wasn’t hired to play it. So that I am prepared for whatever happens.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to my favorite rooftop restaurant, EP&LP. I would also have a few drinks by the beach in Santa Monica. If it wasn’t COVID, I would take them to the Getty, one of my favorite museums. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to all the creatives apart of Cherry & Co. My mom, and my God. Without them I would not be where I am, or even inspired to do what I’m doing.
