We had the good fortune of connecting with Coach Sheika-Ann Ambatali and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Coach Sheika-Ann, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I thought of my business model, I thought about my mission and my vision as well as longevity and the meaning for the brand name I chose to use. When I came back from coaching from the Jr. NBA in India and the Dongguan Basketball School in China I had a new found love for this game of basketball.
I loved that basketball was a universal language in all the countries I have coached and visited. The logo incorporated the world and a basketball and so I came up with the name “All In Basketball” because I wanted this company to be inclusive of all ages, levels and skills. I also loved the phrase “all in” because you can’t regret 100% of the effort you put into everything you do.
All In Basketball was created to share and teach the love of basketball to everyone while building and supporting the community. We offer basketball training and skills development but now we also provide a platform for adult women to play in a basketball league. Additionally, we hold community service events such as beach clean-ups, raise money for charities, pack lunch bags full of food and water for the less fortunate and collect toiletries for local youth shelters. We care about our community and we want to partner with local non-profits and organizations who are helping in big ways.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
All In Basketball was established in Orange County in 2016 and was built on the love for the game. I created this company because I wanted to focus my time with individuals and small groups to create a custom and personalized skills development training program to build confidence and strengthen their foundational skills in basketball.
I’m excited to build this brand in other ways such as forming our All In Basketball Women’s League (AIBWL) to provide a safe, fun and competitive platform for women to continue playing.
We will still continue to hold community service events so we can get more involved to give back to the cities we live in.
I learned that you need to create your own path, your own lane and pursue your passion relentlessly. Basketball has been that passion for me and has always been my first love. So to be surrounded by it on a daily basis has been a dream come true. It has taken me all over the world. I’ve met so many people through this game. I’ve learned so many life skills being a player, a coach, a trainer, a league director and a fan. It’s really come full circle for me and I’ve loved the journey.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I just want to shout out my family—my mother, my sister, my father. They have been there to support me through thick and thin. I can’t see myself without them. They have shaped me into becoming the person I am today. I am blessed, grateful and lucky to have them in my life. Always love.
