We had the good fortune of connecting with Coleen Janeway and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Coleen, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Experience changes you. The knowledge of how you use your time and how you focus becomes really evident. Building a healthy brand takes vision and heart. Manifesting your dreams is more than just day dreaming. I maintain a balance by scheduling what is important to me personally as well as professionally. I set intentions, do the research, seek mentors and put in the work necessary to see my vision come to life. Balance takes as much work as building a business, being conscious of choices I make each day allows me to evaluate where I am in my own growth process.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a beauty expert, culinary alchemist, and plant-based skin food chef, I find all of these faucets of my life combining together providing the platform I need to be a creative soul. I have had the opportunity to advise, oversee, and develop other successful beauty and wellness brands globally. Devoted in the pursuit of the business of health and wellness long enough to understand what is hype and what is truth, Unveiling the superficial to reveal what is real and effective, I help my clients set and achieve attainable goals by simplifying food and skincare. Through my workshops, retreats, and writing, I demonstrate a restorative lifestyle to achieve the best version of myself. After years of troubleshooting and personal research, I was constantly discovering so much of what we are told and marketed about food or skincare was just flat-out wrong. Ingredients are not necessarily pure (possibly even harmful), the quality may be less than what one would expect. Suffering from an autoimmune disease that took four years and multiple doctors to diagnose, I felt dismayed and confused by the information out there. When I finally got to the root of my own diagnosis, I thought to myself, “healing oneself should not have to be so complicated” since most of what causes the body to inflame or become irritated is generally related to something systemic, ingested or topically applied to the skin. I felt the need to share my story and more importantly share just how easy it is to see big changes in your skin and body with small adjustments regularly. We all know life gets complicated. Which is why I am always inspired to help others begin their journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A perfect week in LA for me would be foodie focused, between art, food, mountains and ocean what could be better. I would start in Venice Beach and hit up all the chicest spots on Abbot Kinney. Move on to cocktails bayside at the Ritz Carlton in Marina Del Rey. I would not miss the Getty Museum or the chance to dine in K-town hibachi style on a Friday night. Saturday’s are always reserved for Malibu sun and surf. Late afternoon snacks at Malibu Farm Cafe, then on to sunset drinks at Nobu or Casa Escobar.. I would end the week with a Sunday field trip out to Ojai. The farmers market is second to none! A true foodie experience Ojai has fantastic wineries, olive and orange groves to explore along with incredible outdoor dining and amazing vistas.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would say I owe much of my inspiration to my community of wellness and health professionals. Modern advances, research and science give us so much to be excited about, even in a world of uncertainty. I am grateful to work alongside so many amazing humans advocating health and longevity as a lifestyle.
